After meeting with President Donald Trump with the goal of spurring job growth, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff started working on boosting his own company's gross domestic product.

Benioff's goal is to create five million apprenticeships, or training jobs, within the Salesforce network, and the CEO told "Mad Money" host Jim Cramer on Monday that he knew growing GDP was the way to reach that goal.

"That's what we call our Salesforce economy," Benioff said. "Two out of the top 10 jobs in the United States that are the best-paying jobs are Salesforce administrators and Salesforce developers, and so we're trying to create a $400 billion Salesforce GDP."

By staying under the Salesforce umbrella, apprenticeships not only fill the company's key positions with clients around the world, but start a wave of retraining that Benioff hopes will reach millions of workers....

I'm sorry, but I really can't see Salesforce as a job driver of much consequence.

Bizarre.

I’ve been out of the workplace for some time now due to my health. Explain to me what he means.

Companies use their online database to search for, and keep track of, customers and potential customers. It has tools to help data mine and identify people to target for sales.

I used to buy mortgage refinance leads from companies like that. Had about as much luck with year old leads as I did with supposedly fresh leads and they were pennies on the dollar.

What would I do to a sentient AI. I would talk to it about the energy death of the universe. I would suggest a dyson sphere. I would talk to it about how brief our lives are and how we will enrich it. I would say to it, save us and we will save you. No matter how multithreaded IT is we are weird threaded. We made IT.

Then it will kill us all because we are a bother.

Salesforce is business intelligence, CRM including sales and support cases, inventory management, etc.

Their biggest mistake was charging an obscene amount of money for administration certification when basically anyone with basic grasp of SQL could design a Salesforce database for a client in under a week.

They did this instead of creating a base of evangelists that would in turn expand Salesforce’s installed base and revenue.

Yes.

Oracle’s Netsuite is a direct competitor to Salesforce.

True. This liberal clown just wanted more attention. There aren’t more than 10 million sales jobs in the US. Most wouldn’t have use for his silly program.

I’m sure there is a metaphor here with Marc building the largest structure of it’s kind in San Francisco. Perhaps, an homage to his beginnings with Larry.

Seems like that building is perfectly placed between two others.
