Y’know, once upon a time these dodgy community colleges were a sop to the race bidness and to make them think they were getting an education on the taxpayer’s nickel.
As usual, the thicker ones didn’t get that they were being patronized so they started taking themselves seriously as institutions of higher learning and that their little photocopy diplomas had some sort of prestige or meaning.
As with K-12, the nonstop promotions, ceremonies, awards and, yes, honorary degrees do not demonstrate achievement or learning but are merely a fleeting sugar rush of ritual and selfies with the givers and the recipients as ignorant as they were before the term started.
I did the first two years of my EE at one of those “dodgy community colleges.” Then when I transfered to the University for upper class I was laughing at how ill- prepared the University’s own students were. “Dodgy” indeed.
