If you really want to understand why it was so important to pass the American Health Care Act and how that act will lower premiums for millions of Americans whilst also providing legally binding protections for those with preexisting conditions listen to Dr. Betsy McCaughey on the Dennis Prager show.
"There is no one on the national level who understands this issue better than she does. Absolutely NO ONE." – C. Steven Tucker
Listen to her interview with Dennis Prager HERE
For all of the crowing that the House DIMS were doing after the vote yesterday, high-profile DIMS sure seem pi$$ed off today.
For those who don’t know ( not that it matters ), here’s an interesting factoid — Betsy McCaughey used to be Betsy McCaughey Ross. She used to be married to Wilbur Ross, currently the Commerce Secretary under Trump.
I’ve heard her speak before. What does she say in a couple sentences? IS she happy or not about it?
PFL
But remember, all the jerks in congress on both sides are exempt from the health care laws they pass. That is the biggest issue of all.
Make any and all laws apply equally to ALL citizens.
There should not be a special class of US citizens that all laws do not apply to.
Why is this not issue #1?
I thought I read somewhere where they ultimately, at the end, voted NOT to exempt themselves. Was this just wishful thinking, or did I misunderstand or did they really bite the bullet?
I believe there is an item in the bill passed yesterday that eliminates the Congressional exemption under Obamacare.
The bill still needs:
- Buying across state lines; all states
- Tort reform
- Confirm elected officials are not exempt

McCaughey damaged her credibility a few weeks ago when she publicly supported the original Ryan bill. I suspect she works as a paid shill for some health care industry group.
I hope the exemption goes away. I have been screaming about that since Obummer care passed. No one seemed to care. That is so wrong, it is criminal.
You can’t get tort reform in a Federal bill. Malpractice cases are adjudicated in state courts, not Federal court.
Everyone needs to start dealing with the fact that we are on the road to single payer. The average American wants some form of it and the GOP is always looking for an easy way out.
There are actually some legitimate reasons for Congress to be exempt from certain laws. This isn’t really one of them from what I can see.
Single payer is absolutely necessary in any industry built on the delusional expectation that we can force other people to pay our bills. This also explains why a peasant class is a natural state of human existence.
I just found something - it looks like, in the end, they did NOT exempt themselves. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3550455/posts
False. They did not exempt themselves. That was a rumor that was untrue.

TITLE: HOUSE ALSO UNANIMOUSLY PASSES MCSALLY BILL STRIKING AHCA EXEMPTIONS FOR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
Now a comment:
Lawmakers and congressional staff are unlikely to face higher premiums or fewer health-care benefits as a direct result of the House Republicans’ health-care plan for one big reason: they work in the District of Columbia.
That’s the conclusion of health-care experts who said Congress’s 535 lawmakers and the thousands of Capitol Hill staffers who work for them won’t be much affected by the American Health Care Act, which passed the House narrowly on Thursday.
This is despite the House’s move to nullify a provision in the amended bill that originally exempting them from the plan’s changes, according to several health-care experts.
The AHCA would allow states to opt out of current rules requiring health plans to cover a set of essential benefits and stopping insurers from charging higher premiums to people with preexisting conditions.
Members of Congress and their aides are unlikely to feel the impact of these changes, however, because they generally obtain health insurance through the small-group exchange operated by the Affordable Care Act-friendly District of Columbia. If the D.C. government continues to enforce the ACA’s protections, which most experts believe it will, lawmakers and staff could end up with more robust and less expensive coverage than constituents in states that are not as friendly to Obamacare.
“Even though they’re no longer exempting themselves, I think the likelihood of any of them facing higher premiums for preexisting conditions or not having access to a comprehensive set of benefits is pretty unlikely,” said Cynthia Cox, associate director for the Program for the Study of Health Reform and Private Insurance at the Kaiser Family Foundation, in an interview.
Tort Reform will....
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER HAPPEN!!!!!!
At least not until we pass an Amendment banning lawyers from running for Congress.
