Macron favorite in opinion polls as France elects new president

After a tumultuous election campaign filled with scandal and surprises, the French public began to vote on Sunday on whether a pro-European Union centrist or an anti-EU, anti-immigration far-rightist will lead them for the next five years.

Opinion polls indicate they will pick Emmanuel Macron, a 39-year-old ex-economy minister who wants to bridge the left-right divide, resisting an anti-establishment tide that has seen Britons vote to leave the EU and Americans choose Donald Trump as U.S. president.

But should an upset occur and National Front candidate Marine Le Pen win, the very future of the EU could be on the line.

Macron, who wants to deregulate the economy and deepen EU integration, has a 23- to 26-percentage-point lead over Le Pen in the opinion polls.

Not to mention the ick factor of seducing or being seduced by his high school drama teacher when he was 15 and marrying her 3 years later

Now he’s 39 and she’s 64 and he is younger than his “ step children”

If the sexes were reversed the teacher would be in jail, not helping her young protege be a president

Just
Ick

Someone once paraphrased Charles de Gaulle by noting that “France is an anarchy punctuated by dictatorship.”

In this case, the current socialist regime, with arrogance, indifference, and incompetence, has created a state of anarchy in France. So perhaps the people of France want a dose of dictatorship, to restore order and prosperity.

However, for all the media and opposition breast-beating about Le Pen, she may actually not be as dictatorial as all that.

Especially true in that, like the United States, there is a legislative body that is pretty evenly divided by left and right, with Le Pen’s National Front only holding two seats in the lower house, and Macron’s En Marche! having none at all.

Viva Le Pen-but France is lost and swirling down the multicultural toilet.

Should be 3pm Eastern.

French usually have a result pretty quick.

Polls and media are in complete agreement, Hillary has a +90% chance of winning over that loser Trump ... I mean Macron has a +90% chance of winning over that loser Le Pen.

If she wins, it should finally put the proverbial nail in any moron hyperventilating over what a pollster says or what the corporate media says. Would love to see it, just so we get the hat trick against the globalists.

Many thanks for the info that the French polls will close at 3 PM Eastern Time. I'm rather on pins and needles, LOL.

This may well be the last hurrah of French centrist politics. A populist right French President is extremely likely within a decade. It may or may not be Le Pen, but it will be someone very similar to her.

Some countries (like France) have a lot more work to do than others (like England).

Apparently France will have to learn a few more hard lessons before her people wake up to reality...
