The US has been heavily regulating “assault rifles” for years. The do-gooders get especially concerned about dangerous weapons of war like the AR-15. Cities like Chicago have banned just about all firearms in order to keep people safe. Despite these efforts, people in Chicago are regularly shot and very often killed by gangbangers whipping out pistols and blazing away.
And now — NOW — we are told that the gangs are using — *gasp* — AR-15s in a sudden and worrisome escalation of the violence.
Do these Liberals ever stop and think? Their entire mental process on this issue is totally fubar. Nothing that the Liberals have done on the issue of violence has paid any dividends. Nothing. They just make things worse. Which is probably what they want — a scared population is more likely to vote for more Big Government assistance.
Rifles are hard to conceal but when policing is so hands off, it’s not much of a concern.
I think Chicago likes these things. Sincere question.. what is the annual salary of a Chicago cop? I know a FL cop whose monthly pension is 4 thousand dollars a month. 4 thousand.

The recent shooting of undercover cops with rifles is more about motive.
These were targeted assassination attempts and the style of rifle is not important.
Cops need to go after the gangs, irrespective of armament.

A trivia bit from Prohibition-era Chicago was that, other than pistols, the urban weapon of choice was the Thompson submachine gun. It worked well in an urban setting (.45 ACP with high rate of fire, and easily disassembled to take up a smaller area for concealment.)
However, when the city gangsters tried to move downstate into the rural crime territories, they soon learned that the submachine gun was far less effective than were shotguns.
But, into modern times, cities in urban decay, adding accurate high velocity rifles to the mix makes a great deal of sense. That is, a group can use a sniper both as security when both they and their enemies just carry pistols, and to attack their enemies at a considerable distance.
As a tactic, it is far superior to drive by shootings.
