I never understood the reasoning behind the Real ID act.
I understand it was a reaction to 9/11.
But, tightening ID standards in America would not prevent foreign terrorists such as Mohammed Atta and the boys from what they did, because their ID was their foreign issued passport. Our American Real ID act has no effect on ID used by foreign countries.
In addition, what is the point of tightening ID standards for Americans, when more and more states are issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens? The state issued drivers license can no longer be any proof of citizenship , if it ever really was, because illegals can get licenses in some states nowadays.
Can anyone explain any of this, why it makes sense to have this Real ID act as a reaction to 9/11???
Several of the hijackers had Virginia driver’s licenses because we were sloppy about handing them out.
