NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Protesters have taken to the streets and are causing traffic delays Thursday morning, in support of graduate student-teachers who are fighting to start their own union at Yale.

The spokesperson for the protesters in Local 33 of Unite Here, CJ Macklin, tells News 8 that eight protesters will sit down while eight “marshals” (other protesters) will stand around them for protection, at the intersection of Chapel Street and College Street.

Macklin says that two of the protesters are former hunger strikers who say they have experienced sexual harassment, while another protester is a current hunger striker.

All protesters say they are prepared to be arrested.

Quick, march in support for even more debt to try to pay off with a Starbucks job, because the money for those undergrads comes from you, snowflakes; administration's not going to take a pay cut to pay for it, professors can hardly be bothered to show up for all the classes, so you know they'll not be giving up any of their wages to pay them, and you're already demanding that non-educational staff on campus get ‘fair wages’ — so yes, march in support, you're the ones who'll be paying for it for the rest of your lives.

“Macklin says that two of the protesters are former hunger strikers”

As I recall, these hunger strikers allowed themselves to eat if they got hungry.

Why would any employer hire any students from Yale or Harvard? I would never want to have them in my employ if I knew they where part of this or any other thing these poor students are against! This is just dumbfounding me!

Ever since Cutlers closed down, there’s no reason to go to that part of New Haven anyway.

So they will get jobs at some level in the civil service.
Local, state or federal and they will be set for life and might even get a partial loan forgiveness.

Okay, so they’re prepared to be arrested. How well prepared are they to become hood ornaments? Or chassis lubricants?

When daddy stops paying their tuition and they need to get a job a McDonald’s they will put these protests on their resume and claim they were community organizers.

Community organizer?

There’s only one job that qualifies you for. But there won’t be an opening until 2025.
