We have horse friends that use to board with us, who moved to Estacada decades ago. Their son went to prison, and it did cross my mind...
Good points, but the nation has been demographically changed....I don’t expect a great comeback. Certainly not like the civic culture of the 50s. We are a “new” people.
Yeah, I can understand that. We do tend to think of some folks we used to know that were pretty suspect.

Fact is....this country looks nothing like the U.S. of the 50s when it was at its absolute civic & cultural ascendance. The cultural rot that has set in since then is astounding.

We have too many murders today but overall, the murder rate in the United States has decreased over the last 30-40 years.
As for the 1950’s. there were murders and probably other serial killers that were never discovered and never caught.
We are still a violent society, but the long term trend points to a decline in the number of murders.

Actually, the Murder Rate in the United States is as low or lower than it was in the 1950’s.

I did not say that things were wonderful these days, but simply pointed out that we are less violent than we were in the past, and that the idea that America was so much less violent in the 1950’s is an illusion.

Sure...I’m imaging that astronomical black crime rate. Heck, Detroit is thriving. Those 30 million illegal aliens that have trashed the southwest & California...I dreamed them up. Give me some citations that show crime was worse in the 50s than now...please. Spare me this utter nonsense.

While the demographics of America may have changed since the 1950’s, I don’t think that the demographics of Estacada, Oregon have changed all that much since the 1950’s.
