For Carter, the fractured relationship between police and the African-American communities they serve is an issue of trust.

“I feel like the police don’t trust the communities that they’re protecting, and I feel like the police don’t trust the people that they’re supposed to be protecting, and if we can figure out a way to build this trust between the police and the community, I think we’ll have a better dynamic going forward,” Carter said.

Dang cops always causing trouble. Well except when you really need them and they willingly put their lives on the line. Are there bad cops? Yeah. Are there bad segments of just about everything? Yeah, So, try to choose wisely. Or something.

The supremes have ruled that no law enforcement agency has an obligation to protect anyone.

The problem isn’t cops. Its Democrats. Its hard to make a Democrat understand that his own party and his own ideology is the root of his problems.

"The supremes have ruled that no law enforcement agency has an obligation to protect anyone."

What if the Supremes had ruled that all law enforcement agencies have an obligation to protect everyone?

I'm excited for the president to return to the inner cities and start making good on his promises to fix the problems there.

Interestingly enough his cheerleading positive entrepreneur free market enterprise message is one of the prime things that is missing and that doesn't cost him a dime.

Its like Bill Belachick winning with nobodies while Brady was suspended or better Jim Harbaraugh going to Michigan and all of sudden they are competitive. A good leader can take the most precious resource a country has - its people - and make them.

Go in those inner cities and talk to the Blacks trapped there help them to become a success - deliver a message of hope Mr. President.

What do you got to lose??? Down with dope up with hope

Never happen. Your protection is/should be, your #1 responsibility.

Police have indemnification. Meaning, they can't be held responsible for getting to the scene of a crime to late to save a life, or prevent a robbery, etc.

If they didn't have it, there would be 1000's of lawsuits a day.

Only thing that would change would be lawsuits against the police from every victim of a crime. Crime would still take place and produce victims.

He should be struggling with the fact that muslims want them dead. But no, it’s those naughty cops he’s got to be worried about.

Every now and then when an incident occurs where people are injured or killed, someone throws out the comment that the Supremes have ruled that the police have no obligation to protect someone. Common sense should indicate that it is not possible for the police to protect everyone, and that includes cases wherein someone has a restraining order. Outpost and Puppage are correct.

To me, the post by exnavy was a form of snark, because we all know that the police can't protect everyone, and the Supremes understood, that because of civil lawsuits, it would collapse the system if officers owed a duty to protect someone or everyone. The reply was also snark because frogs can't fly, and it was an unnecessary snark.
