Still more "football" and the Prom's begin in a few weeks. The last night of the Prom's is the patriotic one with huge crowds all around the country.

I’ve been enjoying the last night of the proms on youtube for years. I can’t think of a comparable American celebration of patriotism. Even 4th of July on the Mall doesn’t match the full-throated singing of ‘Rule Britannia’.

I’ve read that many Brits aren’t that thrilled with the ‘Last Night’ program and there were some moves to drop the more patriotic hymns, but they didn’t last. Also the flag-waving crowds at both the Albert Hall and venues around the country aren’t very ‘diverse’.

Hope this isn’t taken away from us in the name of safety.
