You do what you can. I couple youngsters tried to impress me that they could name every president. They then proceeded to sing each one in song form, listing them in order from Washington, with the song ending “and barak obama.” I waited.....nothing....then i said AND....the older kid aged 11, said, oh you mean Trump. I said, well he is the president, right? The kid said yeah, but he is racist. His younger sister agreed. They asked me if i liked Trump and i said Yes I do! I said i did not think he was racist. Their grandmother then jumped in saying now kids we have to understand different points of view. Then she said to me, but do you really think he likes mexicans? Lol. I just had to laugh.
I did say Trump is our President now and we have to support him. I said i dont think he is racist and i do think he loves our country. Then we talked about how they liked being homed schooled. The kid said ask me when any president was born? I couldnt resist aaking only about Ronald Reagan? He said 1911. Correct.

“What can we as average citizens do to fight back against the massive onslaught against this presidency?”

What if a couple of million of us just showed up in the streets of D.C. one day?

EXCELLENT, D1! Thanks for laying your analysis out there.

I do think we forget at times what a miracle was the election of Trump.

EVERYONE REMEMBER: The crucial issues of immigration, trade and global warming were all but LOST CAUSES when Trump and Melania stepped on the escalator and came into all our lives. The Senate was also considered a likely loss due to the number of exposed Republican seats. Losing that would have meant having to compromise on the SCOTUS appointment (even if Trump were elected) because the nuclear option would not have been there.

I also want to echo your other theme: FREE REPUBLIC is a TREASURE of immense value. Just THINK how important it has been to all of us to have a SANE COMMUNITY for ideas and support.

And I happen to believe that for each of the hundreds of thousands of us on FR, many others are influenced. At times I was the only one at my office who would stand up and say: “I am unbelievably proud of Trump and consider him one of the best candidates/Presidents in history.” But I would sometimes see the quiet nods of those less bold.

It makes a difference.

Totally agree with both of you. And I’ve been here as long as you have, D1, and enjoyed your posts just as long. I love what you wrote, CJ, especially about not sweating the small stuff.

There are three kinds of people in America, those willing to fight for what it was founded and stands for, those that want to change it into something else and those that want to destroy it.

The latter two can ESAD.

Every day I wake up with a smile on my face knowing we have Trump in the WH instead of Hillary. Trump has delivered on many of his promises. He doesn’t get enough credit from the Establishment conservatives like those over at NR. In many ways, Trump is the most conservative President we have had since Reagan. And many of his cabinet and staff appointments have been spectacular, especially Jeff Sessions and Steve Miller. Trump needs our support more than ever.

Pot shots on unrelated threads do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to advance Conservatism. They are solely DESTRUCTIVE. This has to stop.

Excellent and well reasoned post, Doughty. I don't feel that much needs to be added, but I will put in my 2 cents' worth.

You comment about "pot shots" is extremely important, because, you see, this is not peacetime.

We are at WAR. Does anyone disagree?

And during wartime, you support your Commander-In-Chief 100% unless you are given a damn good, truly compelling reason not to.

Under such circumstances—all out war against a totally corrupt and criminal Enemy—and after only 4 months—you don't go around trying to undermine morale with gratuitous antagonism with posts entitled "had enough losing yet?"—and you don't launch hysterical rants about "betrayals" on issues that haven't even had time to be fully resolved yet—not if you truly support a man who has already accomplished great things against incredible odds.

That sort of behavior is worthy only of NeverTrump B-tches.

Make no mistake: this is a Revolution. And President Trump—a imperfect vessel being used by God—needs every ounce of support, goodwill, and encouragement that the People can give him.

There's no excuse for anything else. President Trump has earned our respect and my trust, and he deserves the benefit of the doubt when I disagree with him. I agree with holding his feet to the fire on conservative principles, and I agree with fair-minded criticism, when done in a civil way. But anything beyond that—mean-spiritedness, disrespect, mockery—is tantamount to aiding and abetting the Enemy, IMHO.

The Enemy is sufficiently vicious, unfair, and malicious toward this President—more than enough to compensate for any shortcomings in criticism which come from the President's ostensible supporters...

To fight a civil war you need an army, or a secret police force capable of neutralizing the opposition.

Trump doesn’t have control of the FBI or CIA.

That leaves the military.

Anybody who thinks the bastards in DC will act in the best interests of the citizens via the electoral process is delusional and naive.

Great post.

I’m proud to say I’ve been on board from the very beginning and not only never wavered, but incredibly, my respect for DJT has only increased.

Although you didn’t miss a thing in your summary, I’d like to highlight one thing about POTUS in addition to his strong adherence to a conservative agenda:

Namely, his fighting style. Obviously, the values he is championing are the highest priority, otherwise what good is winning. However, we also needed a champion who knows how to fight and win, and that is the other half of the miracle of Donald Trump.

The staggering forces aligned against POTUS have complete control of the MSM with which to launch disinformation campaigns against him daily. POTUS calls them out as the disgusting liars they are, and as a result they appear to be locked in a fight to the death.

Am I exaggerating? I don’t think so. I think either he will destroy them or they will destroy him.

I think it’s this battle for public approval that is where the war will be won or lost. If that turns in Trump’s favor, then reinforcements will arrive in 2018.

Meanwhile, the President is like a flame that conservatives need to protect until help arrives.

He shouldn’t be held to account for the failures of the other two branches of government.

But he can be held to account tor whether he has the guts to stay in the fight - and he’s proven again and again that he does.

That’s enough for me.
