It doesn’t do the dog any good to cut its tail off a little at a time. Just do it!

“WTF is Trump thinking!? Stick with your campaign promise and move the embassy to Israel’s capital! “

Or for crying out loud!

Will you idiots GIVE THIS MAN A MINUTE!? Is that something that we can expect from adults or is this side of the aisle just a bunch of goddamn 10 year olds that need their candy bar “now now now”?

Not going to happen until the status of Jerusalem is decided. We have a diplomatic mission in West Jerusalem (moved from East Jerusalem in 2010) that is not under the auspices of the US Ambassador to Israel. It reports back directly to the State Department. We don’t officially recognize East Jerusalem as being part of Israel.

Also saying and doing takes time. You have to find or build a building, then secure it then add electronic stuff ... it’s involved.

Hogwash excuses. Trump needs to start keeping promises. Jerusalem should not be used as a bargaining chip.

” There is essentially zero logic nor history to any sort of Arab claim to Jerusalem but the move would incite massive violence because for no fathomable reason, Arabs regard J as one of their holy cities. They just do. It may very well be that their claim of it being a “holy city” is little more than the stick in the eye it represents to Judaism and Christianity, but that’s the way it is.”

The Arab/Moslem claim to Jerusalem is very recent in its origin - and it has everything to do with politics, NOT religion. As such, the claim should be rejected.

I don't see why an announcement couldn't be made first then all the nuts & bolts planning goes forward from there.

But, if the idea is to get everything in place before an announcement, then we will know whether Trump is serious or not by whether such steps/pre-planning take place ASAP.

Yawn. And is anyone surprised? Every president of both parties has delayed this move, which Congress allowed. When the timing is right, it will get done.

Oh no no no...the language has changed since the campaign on this and many other fronts (dreamers just to mention one of many). This is called holding someone to account on their words. Remember “read my lips no new taxes”

Peace agreements (which might I add will NEVER occur) was never discussed during the campaign as a condition of moving our embassy. He is completely naive if he believes he can broker a peace agreement and actually negotiate with a terrorist (Abbas) and Israel.

If this was going to be a condition then that should have been mentioned during the campaign (as with others). If he had no unearthly idea what he was talking about during the campaign then he should have been far more vague. Other things he has done wonderfully while others not so much. Those other things are what we hold our leader’s feet to the fire in.

Don’t provide him a free pass when he softens language

“Israel should go tell the world that Jerusalem is theirs, always was and always will be.”

Israel has done so, repeatedly...and no one takes it seriously.

However, Israel DOES. If anyone tries to take it, there will be many large radioactive craters where cities used to be, and not just in the Middle East. Oh, and one very large dam in Egypt will suddenly become, uh, disfunctional. You may also see a cobalt-cased bomb or 10 dropped on the Persian Gulf oil fields, ports and refineries. Just sayin’.

...the White House said Thursday the delay was only in the interest of serving a possible peace deal and the move would happen eventually.

If it won't be an impediment to a peace deal in the future then why is it an impediment today?

With whom?

There never will be a peace deal. The camel humpers have been offered countless good deals over the years, even deals where humans have met their every demand. And yet at the last minute they always walk away. If the moon worshipers had wanted peace they would have had it a long, long time ago.

Of COURSE there won’t be a peace deal, every thinking person with even a tidbit of historical knowledge knows that...including Trump. However, I believe that Trump is using the potential move of our embassy to Jerusalem as leverage to get the Paleoswinians to at least make SOME kind of agreement (even if it is to just recognize Israel). I don’t believe that they’ll take the deal, and at that point Trump can say, “We tried our best, as have American diplomats for the last 70 years, but there is no peace possible at this time. Therefore, I will be signing paperwork to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. I will also be encouraging our allies and other friends of Israel to follow suit.”

IOW, he’s giving the rat bastards just enough rope to hang themselves with, knowing full well that they will do so, and then he’ll kick the chair out from under them.

“Care to place a wager on whether it ever happens during his presidency? “

You mean a 4 year long term, in which 4 MONTHS IN, some people are screaming like babies that everything hasn’t been done to perfection yet?

Thank God you people couldn’t vote in the 80s or else we would have had Mondale in 84 because Regan didn’t get everything done by July 81.

And that means what exactly?

No peace deal means the status quo exists. And finally moving the embassy just means that we are following a law from 1995.

So much of Trump’s deal-making seems to be a bunch of hocus pocus to create a self-justification for something he was going to do all along.

Is anyone going to be moved by the 174th failure of a peace deal?

For someone who isn’t a politician, Trump sure does a good impression of one.
