I’m old enough to remember, when girls had to wear dresses to school. Boys had to wear nicer pants and shirts with a collar, no t shirts allowed.
And both boys and girls were expected to wear nicer shoes; tennis shoes or running shoes or the like were not permitted.
Maybe a bit off topic, but the whole area of dress codes has fallen by the wayside in recent decades.
Remember when people used to dress up to go to church?? Seen any of that lately, unless it’s for a wedding or funeral, perhaps??
I think this code helps create a pleasant atmosphere in their establishment. Just waiting for someone to say somehow it’s a civil rights violation to expect your clientele to behave or dress a certain way.
While in the Philippines visiting my then fiancee', I noted ALL school kids (and most were from poor families), were in uniform, from kindergarten on up.
Every boy in a white shirt (t-shirt AND white shirt) with dark blue or black pants and every girl in a dress or skirt.

Now, it’s wear whatever wherever.........I see people in Walmart wearing pajamas!................
The public school system in Mobile County, Alabama requires school uniforms for all students. Everybody looks and dresses the same. Many, many problems were solved.
I remember those days. And I think people were much more respectful and civilized to each other also back then. Dressed nicely , acted maturely. Miss those days a lot.
