The official statement (pdf.) from James Comey, to be read during the hearing tomorrow, has bombshells — but they are helpful to Donald Trump. The statement is embedded in full at the bottom of this post.
Comey confirms — contrary to media reports — that he told Trump that Trump was not personally under investigation.
Comey also paints a picture of Trump trying to put in a good word for Michael Flynn, but there is no suggestion that anything rising to the level of obstruction of justice was said. Also, Comey made clear that those comments did not relate to the general investigation of Russian interference in the election.
We will have additional analysis shortly.
Here are some key excerpts (mostly) in the order in which they appear, and how they relate to prior media reporting.
Comey confirmed — three times in the statement — that he told Trump he was not under investigation:
January 6
“In that context, prior to the January 6 meeting, I discussed with the FBI’s leadership team whether I should be prepared to assure President-Elect Trump that we were not investigating him personally. That was true; we did not have an open counter-intelligence case on him. We agreed I should do so if circumstances warranted. During our one-on-one meeting at Trump Tower, based on President Elect Trump’s reaction to the briefing and without him directly asking the question, I offered that assurance.”
January 27
“During the dinner, the President returned to the salacious material I had briefed him about on January 6, and, as he had done previously, expressed his disgust for the allegations and strongly denied them. He said he was considering ordering me to investigate the alleged incident to prove it didn’t happen. I replied that he should give that careful thought because it might create a narrative that we were investigating him personally, which we weren’t, and because it was very difficult to prove a negative. He said he would think about it and asked me to think about it.”
March 30
“I explained that we had briefed the leadership of Congress on exactly which individuals we were investigating and that we had told those Congressional leaders that we were not personally investigating President Trump. I reminded him I had previously told him that. He repeatedly told me, “We need to get that fact out.””

I want DJT there with a de-classification stamp on 200 different documents we can hang Comey with, and when asked about them and Comey cites classification, DJT grabs the doc and de-classes it on the spot until Comey just starts crying and runs out of the hearing.
If Comey’s testimony supports what Trump says and this kills the Russia story once and for all, the next committee that needs to be formed is the one holding the media accountable for supporting sedition.

Comey knows that A.G. Sessions and President Trump has a trove of information on him, enough to hang him on Treason...so he’s being very careful...thinking that President Trump and/or A.G. office won’t go after him, no bets here, but there is no one to back Comey up anymore, the Clintons are ready to go down, Holder is going down, Obama is going down, Podesta is finished, Brazill is going down, Blabbermouth is going down...Huma and Weiner are done....no one to help him now...
The Deep State is in hiding, they can’t take President Trump down, they relied on the media, talking heads and radio show hosts to do that and over 80% of the American People don’t believe a word they say...
President Trump has built a ME collistion, and they are working on killing ISIS and bringing peace in that region...
EU is bottoms up because President Trump pulled out of the Paris Agreement so they have to worry about that mess over their heads with all the people they have let in...
Russia is staying out of things, for the time being, they don’t know just EXACTLY what President Trump will do, he can be very quite when he wants to be, Example: Comey firing, and some other things...

Clinton lied but he was popular so he was going nowhere.
I’d go a step further ... he didn’t demand, and he didn’t ask either - he merely expressed his hope for what would be the result of Comey’s investigation of Flynn.

Please note first that I am a Trump supporter. Comey says that Trump made no attempt to interfere with the Russia investigation out of one side of his mouth; while out of the other side of his mouth stating that Trump ask him to back off of Flynn. Is not Flynn part of the Russia investigation? Am I missing something, or am I ill informed on the subject?
One noticeable item right at the end....was that Trump wanted to get out that he was NOT under investigation (after being told 3 times).
While Comey said he would do something....and did.....two weeks later he tells Trump to have his people call so and so....since that is how it should be done.
That would have really p**** me off if I was Trump. Why didn't you say that two weeks ago you pin head??

I don’t think so. If I remember correctly, Flynn resigned because he lied to Pence, not because of his business ties to Russia.

So who exactly is “the FBI leadership team” that believes the FBI is a separate shadow government that is not accountable to the President? McCabe? Who else?
They need to identified, fired, and, if it appears crimes may have been committed by them, investigated and prosecuted.

Comey's answer
I had understood the President to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in December. I did not understand the President to be talking about the broader investigation into Russia or possible links to his campaign.
When you go against the King, you have to kill him. He wields real power and authority.
