And....supposedly, a friend recently explained, China has embarked upon a unique national plan to convert all energy production to nuclear.

Would be a good start for cleaning their environment but, I doubt it.

I understand from a report I read a few years back, China estimates it will take a couple hundred years minimum to reverse the disaster that is currently taking place.

Well, good luck with that...

Kind of a convoluted article when I read it this AM.

Bottom line is that the US was supposed to pay into a black hole today, while China has another seventeen years before they have to measure reductions in their filth.

Spare me the tears, world! Trump was right, the Paris fiasco was a one sided piece of garbage based on very iffy “science”!

China is between the proverbial rock and a hard spot. Their air is like breathing soot, rivers and estuaries are dead. They still dispose human excretment in their agricultural fields, thus hepatitis is rampant. The rock though, is that only the some 300m living along the Pacific crescent have been touched by the China economic boom. The remaining 1b plus, still living in fourth world conditions are restless and want in on the action. But, electric power is essential for economic growth. And, coal powered electric plants is China’s only means of providing it quickly. Thus, a new coal powered electric plant is coming on-line every week. Oh, about China coal; aside from being some of the dirtiest coal on the planet, about half of their coal mines are on fire and they’re virtually impossible to put out. Many have been burning for decades with no sign of burning out. Sadly, there are so many problems with China that two centuries to clean up the country may be very optimistic.
