The Las Cruces News says it happened in Dona Ana County, not Deming.
Deming is in Luna County, approximately 60 miles west of Las Cruces. The I-10 corridor between Dona Ana and Hildago Counties is pretty much wide open. There is a lot of drug trafficking through there. SW New Mexico isn’t very safe.
