New Mexico's state land commissioner found a bullet hole in the windshield of his parked pickup truck on Wednesday amid growing fears that elected officials are subject to violent attacks following a shooting in the DC area.
Aubrey Dunn said the discovery in Sante Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday morning was troubling given it came at nearly the same time a gunman opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia.
No injuries or arrests were reported in the incident involving Dunn's truck, and the land commissioner said he did not know whether he was being targeted.

The bullet should still be inside the truck or it exited and left another hole.

Shooting started shortly after 7AM EDT, so "bullet hole" was *discovered* around 5AM MDT......obviously a co-ordinated attack.
I got a perfectly sized .45 hole in my driver’s door on my 95 rat Dakota. I left it a Waffle Shop when the disc brakes seized up meaning to come back for it in the morning. While it sat there a fellow in a brand new Lexus parked beside it and went to place his .45 auto in his glove box and it fired
through the side of his car and into my door. He called the police and left a note in the seat with his name and phone#. When I came back to the truck, I got in, sat on the note and never noticed the hole as it did not go through the door but bounces about inside the door now. Next AM an officer comes to my door and says, “did you know your truck has been shot?” I looked at the hole. I said that’s okay, thanks. I then saw the note and called the guy a couple days later. He was worried it was going to cost him and explained that he had about 2000$ damage to his Lexus and didn’t know how he was going to pay for it. I said no problem. For him it was a disaster, for me it added a conversation starter to the rat Dakota. I coated the edges of the hole to keep it from rusting and left it at that.
What kind of a bullet is shaped like that hole?
I tend to agree, it does not resemble a bullet hole, however if it were long range and if the round was slightly deflected by an object like branch or leaves, if they were using trees as cover, a bullet could possibly tumble.
Or maybe it was a ricochet from a close by object. Ya never know. The vehicle was not occupied so it could have been anything and was likely a pipe or tire iron.
Hopefully they’ll be able to determine if it was bullet by examining the entry hole closely.
Maybe it was a stray from the VA shooting.

Yep, that appears to be a large blunt impact, like a hammer or something of weight.
There was a shooting in the area with multiple rounds fired. One of them DID hit Aubrey’s truck. Bullets don’t always make a nice, perfectly round holes.
