One other thought - the only way this issue goes up the food chain to appellate court and eventually the state supreme court, is by a guilty verdict.

I don't know if that was a factor in the judge's decision, just saying that if nothing else, the sort of conduct this chick was engaging in has serious enough consequences (even though it applies to a minute fraction of the population, so as to not chill any decent, normal person) that it is worth getting law on the books, and only the appeals courts are capable of that.

No, because we deserve it.

“that it is worth getting law on the books, and only the appeals courts are capable of that.”

No that’s the role of the Legislature.

-- No that's the role of the Legislature. --

Understood, but whatever the legislature puts out ends up being run through the courts, and the courts, by dealing with cases, add a layer to what the statutes mean.

This is the first time this sort of case made it to a guilty verdict. If she had been acquitted, that would be the end of it, and talking mentally weak people into suicide would be "acceptable" in the eyes of the law.

Not that many people would or do that sort of thing, just that they could do so with little risk of being called to answer for it. The rate or number of people who do it is so small that legislatures aren;t apt to deal with it. There is no public outcry against persons who talk weak people into suicide, so it isn;t even on the legisltures radar.

It might be, after this case, They might legalize it, for all I know. The appellate court can legalize it too, by reversing the trial court.

Most folks here expressing various opinions obviously did not hear and see the complete contents of her vile campaign urging him to take his life...also his replies.

Ashleigh Banfield's excellent LIVE "justice" TV show (not available in all areas) is a program that delves into detailed aspects of all the current notorious crime cases...the Cosby trial, the prisoners escaped from the bus, and so forth, with spectacular tapes and recordings to go along with the narratives...and no politics.

If you had heard (as I did every week-night during the Michelle Carter trial) this creepy teen urging her mentally-weak "boyfriend" to off himself, and you saw the hundreds of things she was saying and texting to him, you would be horrified beyond words. Even after his suicide, her subsequent actions were horrifying and un-human.

I agree with you, Trebb, in your post above. Carter is evil, a murderess using her texting instrument and her hand-held phone as instruments of death.

I concur with the verdict. What happened is actually a new, modern-day legal concept....."Murder by Electronics".

Carter is a walking ghoul of death despite her age and her sweet little face.

A jury would be less likely to call this manslaughter.

Too many mothers on that jury who would have thought this far more than simple, “reckless” manslaughter, but much more active, in a solicitation for death, for suicide (for self murder).

You can not solicit for murder and get off with manslaughter. She was soliciting. She was actively complicit in seeking to murder, under the cover of suicide.

She may not last long in prison, and given her state of soul and mind, out of prison she will be caught in the future.

I heard a blurb that her defense was going to use an excuse of a drug that caused her to be a nut. Is that remotely true. What? A sinus medicine?

Planning on modeling the behavior of both Mother and Father are ya?

Shucks. Billions of years of binary sexual evolution down the drain! ///

LOL. That happened when feminists took over the legal system, correction laid waste to the legal and family environments. Evolution is also about adapting to changing environments.

Binary reproductive behavior is the product Natural Selection over billions of years.

Which behavior you selecting to model - Male, Female, or the ever popular nature-abominating/self-worshiping other?

Exactly! Today’s female youth have been brought up believing they have special rights. They are training to be, as we stepmoms say, “golden uteruses” whereby they can do anything; even commit murder and get away with it.

They often display “mean girl” characteristics, bullying and treating males as less than dirt, yet expecting said males to kiss the ground they walk on.

They want it both ways! To be able to curse like a sailor and be as profane as any ill-bred male and, at the same time, be worshipped as a pretty princess.

Perhaps FINALLY the courts are starting to abandon the “female sentencing discount” and false chivalry that is completely biased against males, yet lets females get away with anything, i.e. Andrea Yates and Casey Anthony.

You are blue pill. I am red pill.

And Hollywood is the primary peddler of the BS known as “Romance”.

Red pill people know better than to believe Hollywood, feminists or trad cons and their “women off the boat first” philosophy.

Why would my (potential) grandson need a female role model? LOL.

Until the feminist corrupt family court system is overturned, there is no point in becoming a husband to any woman.

Get back to me when the feminist family court is gotten rid of.

Then you can lecture me about “role models”.
