I have to write about Philando Castile, the 32-year-old black man who was shot and killed by a Minnesota police officer last July. I have to compose myself, sit at this laptop and write something profound about another black life taken by a police officer, another officer found not guilty for killing a black person.

Frankly, you don’t sound credible. Now if you tell me you are an officer, or are in a position to have witnessed all these things you claim, I’ll reconsider, but I have a lot of trouble believing you’ve seen officers lie on the stand (if you saw it, why didn’t the judge, because committing perjury is serious) and I have even more trouble believing that you’ve seen “several” cases where cops got away with actual murder.
Again, if you’re an investigator, or an officer, maybe that would change my view of what you say. For now, you’re just not believable. You sound to me like you just hate cops and could be part of the problem.

There are bad apples in every barrel. I hope the majority of the police are drawn to that dangerous profession from an innate sense of love of country and desire to preserve it much like our military folks have.
Usually if you inform the police you are legally armed they will ask you to surrender your weapon until situation is resolved. It sounds to me that both the policemen and victim were operating and reacting out of fear with deadly results.
Power corrupts. How many incidents—ones actually caught on video—do you have to see before you get an inkling of the fact that there might be a problem?
Simply because BLM is as full of sh!t as the day is long with their race-baiting, doesn't mean that we don't have a serious problem in this country with respect to the use of excessive force by police, and a general sense of entitlement.
I'm a white 52 year old, and no crook, but I've personally had a belly full of abusive interactions with the police.
And there have been several cases I'm familiar with in my area where the police got away with stuff they absolutely shouldn't have.
The notion that all cops are scum is as ridiculous as the notion that they're as pure as the new fallen snow, but IMHO, police are not held accountable as often as they should be—not by a long shot.
So if I "sound" to you like I hate cops, it must be because you're predisposed to ascribe that motivation to me—even though it's patently false—and you "sound" to me like you don't believe in aggressive police accountability.
Black, white, red, or purple, there can be little doubt that police aren't held accountable enough for their abuses, and consequently they "get away" with stuff that "civilians" never would. That's a double standard, and it's wrong, period.
Being all for "law and order" requires that there be very strict accountability. Absent that, you end up with hysterical misguided groups like BLM.
My belief—unlike that of BLM—is that race is rarely a factor with police abuse. There's a general problem with police abuse that isn't related to race, and there are ample examples of it at all levels of law enforcement—local, state, and federal.
I mean, look at the various governmental regimes these guys are working for! Do you expect the employees of such outfits to be uniformly noble and upstanding? Or is it instead the case that such positions sometimes also tend to attract precisely those personalities who tend to abuse their power?
Gimme a break. Law enforcement is inextricably intertwined with government, and we know how "clean" government is at all levels. It's naive to think otherwise...

Are you saying that the police do not have the right to use deadly force to protect civilians or themselves?
The police officer will stop the driver for maybe a light out,and when he/she runs the name through NCIC/FCIC,and he has no wants or warrants,he will most often warn him to get it repaired,then send him on the way. Most of the drivers will comply and get it fixed,the scofflaws will not. If you obey the law most officers will cut you some slack,and go on and look for the criminals.
When Americans get justice from Black criminality, you might get different treatment from cops home boy.

I am saying that police can’t anticipate crimes that didn’t happen in order to justify killing a citizen on the street.
That policeman had every bit the obligation to protect the rights of the man he killed - including the right to life, and the right to bear arms which is an aspect of this tale that too many people here are ignoring.

Really? Where I come from, driving around high, also on alcohol, in possession of 6 oz. of pot (intent to sell) with an illegal gun, qualifies one as a Thug.
In my experience, if you inform a LEO that you are armed, their first command is “keep your hands on the the wheel, where is the firearm located”. At that time, the assessment is made on how to proceed, normally asking you to exit the vehicle, and not to reach for anything.
They’re called “scofflaws,” ie. they scoff at the law and the idea it applies to them. And from what I understand, the gun permit thing was BS.
