All autos have gotten much better. That’s why they are expensive. Most people trade too often and waste tens of thousands of dollars over time.

It’s all about appearance for some.

When I was young most cars were falling apart by 75,000 miles. Now most can go 250-350k with normal maintenance.

Also, the dumbest statement ever when faced with a repair is:

“That’s more than it’s worth, got to get a new one.”

It’s incredible the amount of money that is wasted using that way of thinking.

I agree with your comments.

When a big repair bill comes up, I think back on the payments I had been making, and how this bill only amounted to one to four of them, and then next month I wouldn’t have another one for a period of time.

It’s a lot easier to stomach when you think of it that way.

I haven’t had any of those large bills yet though.

My understanding though once you get to the “replace the engine” stage, you are better off with a new car?

That is the take I have been getting from Consumer Reports. All cars are better, and domestics are actually closing the gap, and European imports are over rated.

Still Truck prices are insane.
