The families could reel off all the times they had called the media and written to Washington, but after all that trying, they had never heard anyone who mattered say anything like it: Most Mexican immigrants, Donald J. Trump declared in his first campaign speech, were rapists who were bringing drugs, bringing crime across the border.
Now he had come to meet them, the families of people killed by undocumented immigrants, and they wanted to tell him he was right.
One son had been struck by a truck, another shot just around the corner from home. Different causes of death, but the driver, the gunman, all the perpetrators were the same, the parents said: people who never should have been in the country in the first place.
Sitting alone with them at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in July 2015, the candidate distributed hugs as the families wept. When the campaign had called, most of them had been told only that they were going to meet with Mr. Trump.

This is a way to go after Trump.
Someone who is willing to go to the NYT can tell me about it.

They are responding to his speech in Iowa, where he accused the media of never reporting on the grief that these people have faced. He accused the media of covering up these stories.
That was a powerful statement, and left the media with egg on their collective face.

Trump NEVER said “most Mexican immigrants” were “rapists.” That’s a COMPLETE lie.
And once again, the liberal media draws NO distinction between legal and illegal immigration.
To: Theoria
Why are you posting articles that lie?

I posted it because it pointed out the fact that Trump met with families that were victims of illegal aliens and mentioned The Remembrance Project that does great work.

There had BETTER be a correction on that BS. And it better not be on page B12 under the commodities report.
To: Theoria
They're not ‘’undocumented immigrants''. They're criminals who've broken the law. As if it needs to be said.

It is clear that the media will never ever refer to that quote accurately in a story. Unbelievable.

If we don’t know what BS the loons at the Times are putting out, how are we going to fight it?
It’s called “knowing your enemy,” and it’s always been an essential part of Free Republic.
To: jmacusa
The Times doesn’t even use “undocumented,” let alone “illegal.” They just lump the lawbreakers in with the legal immigrants.
To: Theoria
I read the entire article. It was a good read.
These families feel a bond with Trump. Said he cared and that Trump and his campaign surrogates kept in regular touch with them and that Trump never once instructed them on what to say or do.

Most Mexican immigrants, Donald J. Trump declared in his first campaign speech, were “rapists” who were “bringing drugs, bringing crime” across the border.
what he actually said:
"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best," Trump said. "They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
