What's happened to the pro-gun wish list in Washington?

"Gun rights advocates entered the Trump era with high hopes. After years of frustration they thought a gun-friendly president and Congress would advance their agenda. At the top of the list: a gun-owner's ability to bring a legal weapon across any state lines, a policy known as reciprocity.

But many of their favorite initiatives have stalled in Washington..."

Doesn't surprise me.

Republicans only control both Houses of Congress and the Presidency. As soon as they're running things it'll be better...

Well, I guess that they're working on more important stuff like homo birthday cakes and which bathroom anybody gets to use.

I’m with you. But I’m also here to watch the FIRESTORM that FR will bring down on you... Like they do me.

Trump is a great president - I love having this guy around. He’s not even a “Better of two evils” guy - He’s an actually good president !

But there is no such thing as a pro RKBA person from NYC. It doesn’t exist. He doesn’t care about guns even slightly. He’s not going to ban them (It’s a bad business decision) but until he simply sits down and signs that EO that guarantees constitutional freedoms of inter-state transport and carry... he’s just not an RKBA guy.

No elite is, No politician is. Control is why people seek office, and those who do know that guns remove that control. It’s been this way for millenia.

"...It's been that way for millennia..."

It is painful to watch.
If we get legislation in our favor, it will be cancelled by an Associate Judge of Dogcatching in the 54th District of Lower Southeast Iowa and will need to be appealed.

Top of the list was a textualist and originalist Supreme Court justice.

We got that in Gorsuch.

Guns in Army Corps of Engineers managed lands is on the list. Since Trump took officer, the Corps agreed to settle with both Second Amendment lawsuits against it. That process is now ongoing.

Since Trump got in office, ATF has been negotiating on removing silencers from the NFA.

Not everything we wanted, right away, but the Swamp has been delaying Trump’s appointments and taking up his time to fight fake news.

Trump has been a huge NRA supporter since his sons were youngsters. THEY shoot competition HiPower and spent most of their summers competing in Europe.
POTUS Trump is not a hunter, but I wouldn't put it past him to carry a pistol like Teddy did while he was in the WH, or like Reagan did after the attempt on his life.

I'm pretty much OK with Trump.

He's got a pretty full plate right now.

My main bazitch is congress and the SC.

Congress pulling this "we get to carry anywhere 'cause we're special" chit turns my stomach.

The SC took the easy way out yesterday turning down two 2A issues.

These gun issues are the kinds of things that these fools are supposed to deal with.

Instead we get "gay cake" and "drag queens in the ladies room" cases and these clowns stand around telling each other what a bang up job they are doing.

"...because we are special..."

Republican / Uniparty congresscritters burned any goodwill they had with that elitist outburst by Rep. Mo Brooks (R - Alabama) the other week.

All of this is not because of one man, it’s because of an entire paradigm in human society.

When riots break out, pay attention to where the police form their lines. It’s not in front of people and businesses - it’s in front of town hall, the police department or the neighborhoods of their local elite.

If there is even one shred of law or rule that takes a single gun from a single person than there is tyranny afoot.

It’s not clean. No, it doesn’t count for “mentally disturbed people”. It doesn’t. But our constitutional rights make it clear: Congress must have the ability to muster the militia, Congress will muster that militia from the citizenry, not from enlisted or deputized people and the members of that militia (You and I) must be well armed with weapons that work, are in good working condition and our skills with them (as fighters) is also maintained. (In other words, “Regulated”. Regulated does NOT mean “controlled by the governing body”. That’s why we have clocks that say “Regulator” and “Regulated”)

But even without the Constitution, We don’t need any piece of paper, governing body, person or group of people telling us that we have no god-given, natural right to defend ourselves in anyway that we see fit. Period. Deer have antlers, birds have beaks and claws, wolves have teeth. Even Rabbits and Squirrels have defense mechanisms that no one questions or seeks to eradicate. Humans have brains and we use those brains to invent and design. That is our only defense on God’s green earth.

So when some milquetoast “Conservative” moron says “We have a right to keep and bear arms.... Except...” or “... But” you need to be prepared to dismiss their notions, shun them from the conversation and ridicule them.

Because the only person with name recognition of any sort who has gotten this whole thing right is John Moses Browning.

If you’re depressed and someone wants to take your right to defense away from you, they are 100% convinced you deserve to die. If you are evil or psychotic or intend to harm innocent people then a well-armed populace would have erased your name from the rolls before you got that way.

It’s simple - the gun is the ultimate device of the civilized world and where as all problems are created by those who wish to control you, all problems are still solved at the muzzle of a gun.

Bullcrap. Trump is the most pro-2A president in modern history. He has not been a big gun guy in his personal life, although he is the only president I know of that had a CCW permit as a private citizen. But both his sons are gun guys, and did a good job of educating him on gun issues before he ran. He made it a requisite for SCOTUS picks, and has signed EOs allowing guns on Federals lands that were banned under Obama. He speaks about the importance of gun rights at every rally. But he can only sign bills that make it to his desk.
