Former ESPN Reporter Britt McHenry Believes She Was Let Go . . Because She Is 'Openly Conservative'

Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry believes she was fired from the sports network because she is openly conservative.

McHenry was one of around 100 employees ESPN let go in April, but suggested in a since-deleted Twitter response on Monday that she believes she was let go because of her political views.

Replying to someone who slammed ESPN for arguing they aren't liberal, McHenry wrote: 'I mean I've been openly Conservative... look how that ended up...'

Since receiving backlash, McHenry has tweeted three times to defend her claim.

'Need to take my opinions & truth to a place & blog that actually gets money for the clicks. I replied to a friend.' she said around 8:15pm on Monday night. Just minutes later, she added: 'It's not "inserting myself" when I reply to someone and sites and blogs run with a headline. Think about this one....'

Finally, an hour after the initial tweets, McHenry wrote: 'Stay true to what you believe in -- positive or negative, it's still a reaction. What the truth from me, come to my social media.'

There are times when you just shouldn't let politics get in your way. Even if she were a lib, I'm thinking ...

I dislike female sideline reporters almost as much as I do female war correspondents.

I think she should be fired after the video surfaced of her insulting the woman.

Yep. Pretty sure she was picking up her ride after being towed to an impound. Have you ever seen how sanctimonious the media gets about parking/parking spaces at any event. It’s pretty sad, and has to be what set her off. Glad her ride got towed. The only thing better would’ve been the clerk she was berating telling her it was time for her 1 hour lunch break.

Verbal abuse controversy[edit]
On April 16, 2015, a sequence of video segments of McHenry verbally abusing a tow lot employee was posted on LiveLeak.[5] In the video, McHenry announces that she is a TV reporter, makes numerous disparaging remarks about the employee’s appearance, makes fun of the employee’s job, ridicules what she thinks is the employee’s level of education, and threatens to sue. “Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh?” she asks.[6]

McHenry later apologized on Twitter, writing: “In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things... I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.”[7] In response to the incident, ESPN suspended McHenry from the network for one week.[8]

A day later, the towing company released a statement saying they did not want to see McHenry suspended or terminated as a result of her comments.[9][10][11]

There’s no doubt that she’s beautiful, but that’s all that she is.

I heard that’s what happened to Heather Tesch at the Weather Channel a few years ago, too. They didn’t want somebody who was supporting pro-family and religious organizations, they’d rather have their people getting stoned every night and shilling for DemonRats. Weather Channel has been dead to me ever since.
