Obama is stupid, we all agree with that.
So why not trap him at the same time?

Plant with him a false story of when an attack happens...only he would know...we give him this to protect him from entering a nearby. Country for his protection. He would leak, no question. Then Trump announces with proof after the real attack, the truth and gets him out of the what. The 55% of the country who knows Obama is a traitor will love it.

Then we take them out on a different day and have Obama where we want him, too.

For them its a way to send a message about “who’s boss” and who they expect to pay up to sustain their economically bankrupt country.

That’s what USA and South Korea have done during times of negotiations with NK. Given the Norks bennies like cash and business that generates cash for North Korea.

NK is also still as committed to “reunification” with the South like they were when the tanks and troops rolled on June 25, 1950.

They want to intimidate and terrorize in the classic Communist tradition to force adversaries to capitulate.

Out of the way, not out of the what.

“China is pulling the strings in NK.”

I don’t know if China is ‘pulling the strings’ exactly, but I agree that they are using North Korea as leverage.

“Even a win for China.”

Not sure they would see it this way. South Korea is a trade power that has a large share of several product markets, including home appliances and electronics. These are areas that China is also competing in. A unified Korea, without the constant theatrics and tension brought about by North Korea, would have the potential to markedly out compete China in multiple areas.

Stupid sanctions never work, his people except military are already starving to death, or killed on his whim if he thinks they will rebel.

Why was the missile not intercepted?

There is no recourse short of first strike that destroys North Korea and that isn’t going to happen

The only reason I can see that they would ever use it is if there was going to be some sort of inevitable regime change or take over. Seems like there are too many that are living too well to give up, knowing they will either spend the rest of their lives in horrible prisons or be executed for crimes against humanity.

“Not sure...”

Reunified Korea would be about one twentieth the size of China, making any negatives a minor issue, and if what they say about free markets and trade is true, a more open relationship between China and the Koreas would benefit both countries.

DJT needs to bring that quote back and make a speech that is accompanied by powerful military action at some point, but there can be no dithering with the brutal and murderous Norks.

Sounds great, but none of that changes the calculus here. If we engage NK, Seoul is probably gone. That's tens of millions of people. Can we make that decision for South Korea? Should we? At what point do we just say "Screw it" and pound those bastards, consequences be damned?

Maybe that line has been crossed now, I don't know, but let's not begin to pretend that this is a simple situation with a simple remedy.

Kim isn’t crazy. He’s gotten zero push back so the logical thing is to keep seeing how far you can go. If thy won’t push back then I guess they’ve accepted North Korea as a militarily first world nation.

Why was the missile not intercepted?

So we could see its range.

The decision to take out fat boy should have been 2-3 years ago. If all the world sits back and twiddle their thumbs like they've done (and Kim knows it) then Seoul is gone anyway. One small nuke or bomb from a drone or an secret assassination team and many more people will be saved. We just can't tell McBlabbermouth or he'll have it on CNN at dawn.
