I have visited a lot of Civil War battle field parks. Antietam is the number one best preserved, even better than Gettysburg IMO.

True. For one thing, Antietam never had the commercial exploitation that Gettysburg suffered. That whole area around there has been pretty much untouched for decades. Beautiful rolling green hills, fields, and woodlands that are truly "off the beaten path".

A few years ago I took my bicycle up there and spent a day doing a self-guided tour of the battlefield. Good memories. Shepherdstown, West Virginia across the river is a nice quiet little town for food and lodging.

Gettysburg has McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried, etc. right there along Cemetery Ridge. Antietam has none of that with the battlefield. I love going to Antietam every year I visit my mom down there. Love that Trump did this.
