It is not that they hate Russia. It is that they hate Trump. The left thought, incorrectly, that tying Russia to Trump would cause Trump’s base, which is virulently anti-communist, to break away from Trump. That didn’t work, because the evidence wasn’t there, and Trump’s base is comprised primarily of realists, not feelings-ists.

The left is now caught between Iraq and a hard place: they have to continue to hate Russia because to do otherwise would be to admit their mendacity.

OK, I’m going to alter my answer. The left doesn’t hate Trump per se, except on a level or personal taste (talks funny, tweets incessantly, flaunts wealth, has a wife and daughters who look like models); the left hates America as it was originally intended, on all levels.

Until the 1990s, the Soviet Union was the premiere enemy of America, and so the left loved the Soviet Union. Today, Islamist jihadism is the main enemy of America, and so the left loves Iran and the Palestinian jihadis, and Russia would have to sit in the back of the ANTIFA bus, if it got a seat at all, since it no longer fulfills its leftist function as the center of anti-Americanism.

>I don’t think Putin has a particular moral loathing of homosexuality, nor any great devotion to Christianity. I think he operates from a much more pragmatic, realpolitik, Machiavellian perspective. As a former KGB operator who was schooled in the subversion and corruption of the west he is well aware of those things that will stabilize and destabiize a society and acts accordingly. If pushing the homosexual agenda was good for Russian society, Vlad would be leading from the front.

What’s my assessment of him as well. But as the bible says you shall know them from their fruit. Russian’s recovering birthrate, the decline of abortion, and their refusal to sell out to the globalists speak well of Putin. One doesn’t have to be a good man to do good things.

Christianity, and the post cold war revolution, and turning from communism, and, they tore “down that wall.”
The left must feel so betrayed.

How can you ask the question. Russia outed them. Like Project Vertas or a Pulitzer prize winner from the days when journalists were journalists. Russia, along with Wiki-leaks (and by Russia I am including any eastern block hackers who really did the job) did the job that the press was supposed to do. Russia uncovered the scandal that the democrat party was unfair, that the press was unfair, that the big name politicians can break the law and not be prosecuted, millions were paid to slush funds masquerading as charities to buy influence in our government. And that the debates were unfair.

So of course they are angry at Russia. They had to break a lot of rules and laws to set up a very unlikable women to be president. And Russia shined a light on all the problems we suspected but had no proof to throw back in her face. Remember the democrats spent about a billion dollars of somebody’s money to lose badly when there was no good reason to lose other than that they thought the electorate was too stupid to see what was going on. And that they paid all the right people to tell the electorate how to vote. Think if the democrats spent millions of your dollars, wouldn’t you be mad too? That million was supposed to buy influence and it bought nothing.

They don't.

They keep bringing up Russia as a way of making Trump's election look illegitimate.

Under other circumstances, they wouldn't be so down on Russia.

No permanent friends or enemies in foreign policy -- it's all tactical, for both sides.

I concur, but let’s not forget that some of Putin’s fruit includes murdered journalists, political rivals, etc. Certainly, I do not know what’s in his heart, but I can speculate as how history will look at him. I think the KGB was well aware of the USSR’s military and economic inferiority and knew the best way to confront the west was to destabilize the underpinnings of the moral and philosophical fabric that had led to the west’s superiority. I think it merely stands to reason that somebody who’s formative years were stewed in that petri dish would do everything to repress the things in his own country that he had once sought to foment in others.

I’m pretty shocked at the hatred of the right as well. I don’t believe we will ever be best buds, but I think we have a lot more in common with Russia then we do with China

For the same reason the Communists hated the Nazis; for the same reason the Shia hate the Sunnis. Different camps of leftists, seeking the same “mother lode” of power.

Remember, when one of these leftist ideologies comes to power, the first thing they do is kill the other lefties first.

Simple minded people seek duality but there is no duality in foreign policy.

There are 3 foreign policy groups in the Republican party. They are NeoCons, Realists, and isolationists and there are two types of isolationists: Libertarians such as Rand and Ron Paul plus paleo-populists such as Pat Buchanan and Taki.

There are 3 foreign policy groups in the dem party. Liberal Interventionists, aka national security democrats, aka left-wing hawks. The second dem group are Realists. The top democrat realist in the senate is Diane Feinstein. the top republican realist in the senate is Bob Corker. The third dem group are anti-war pacifists.

The NeoCon Republicans and Liberal Interventionist democrats are natural allies on foreign policy in that they are both idealists big on humanitarianism and nation building. The NeoCons detest Trump and think he is a Pat Buchanan isolationist and the NeoCons supported Hillary over Trump.

The republican Realists and the Dem Realists are natural allies. Mattis, McMaster, and Tillerson are realists.

The rightwing isolationists and anti-war pacifists dems are natural allies.

Maybe some of them resent Russia, or more specifically the old Soviet Union, for giving communism/socialism a bad name. Probably some of them think "Gosh, if only the USSR had gotten it right, we'd have socialism everywhere now..."

So the libtards resent them for failing. The libtards are sure that socialism will work - I mean after all it just sounds so convincing! If only the right people (ie, themselves) are in charge. Obviously the Russians weren't the right people and now they've gone and made it so much tougher to try to convince people socialism is the answer, just never mind that 100% failure rate at creating happy, prosperous societies. This time it'll be different, we're sure... {snort}

homosexual activism in the streets and schools for children are prohibited there.

Putin probably doesn’t care what two adults so but he isn’t pushing ot on the kids or in peoples’ faces.

>I concur, but let’s not forget that some of Putin’s fruit includes murdered journalists,

If the Russian Journalists are anything like the slanders and propagandists we have in this country, then I don’t exactly have a lot of sympathy for them.

People treat the press like they’re secular priests when in reality they’re the people most involved in trying to destroy us. They tell us good is evil and evil good, they speak with forked tongues and give aid and comfort to our enemies. We don’t excuse the Imam who urges the terrorists to kill us and neither should we excuse the reporters who seek our destruction.

Finally this respect for the press only goes one way. A couple of right wing journalists were beaten up and threatened with death if they didn’t leave by men dressed in black after a leftist journalists twitted that they were Nazis:

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2017/07/independent-journalists-attacked-antifa-g20-fake-news-tweeted-photos-calling-fascists/

>Rudkowski and Bachmann were then accosted by “ten men” according to Rudkowski, Bachmann was punched, and then both were chased and thrown to the ground by the group of Antifa/anticapitalist terrorists. Rudkowski and Bachmann drove 30 minutes outside the city of Hamburg, and were followed and confronted by other Antifa terrorists who told them they would be seriously injured or killed if they did not leave town.

If it’s the same type of leftist scum that Putin had killed then they maybe they got what they had coming.
