Force ruling elites to choose between North Korea and American colleges for their kids.

Add Stanford, Yale, Dartmouth, Chicago and other top-tier private American universities so popular with China’s “red nobility” i.e., the children and grandchildren of Communist Chinese elites. For if the Trump administration hopes to enlist an unwilling Beijing to check North Korea’s nuclear...

This is not confined to education. China's ruling elites probably have extensive real estate and other assets in U.S.. The same things holds for left-wing ruling elites in other countries. Embracing these elites does not make them any more pro-American. For Chinese, the prestige of top universities matters. Can't get the same thing in other countries. Even Cambridge and Oxford are being hollowed out to some degree.

Are those science tech students or philosophy students? I would guess that those kids do speak English. What does the French University system offer other than the French Revolution and its desire for equality and nothing else. Or the British and their desire for universal benefits and nothing else?! Or Am I wrong?! Have England or France done anything to move the human race further along during the past 20 years?! Silicon Valley is in the USA right?!

As Chinese American I have to say the author know about the Chinese. It hits spot. I would add that all relatives of communist party leaders banned from getting green card or us citizenship. Set up 1-800 phone line global for people to identify someone as such

It is true that there has been tremendous shift in academic institutions internationally in a couple of decades. U.S. really enjoys prohibitive advantage now.

Surprised it’s taken this long to figure out. Threatening to deny visa approvals to our walls in China was how we used to get utilities “magically” restored.

A lot of American universities will squeal over this, especially the state universities. The in-state kids pay reduced tuition because the state pays part of the tab. Out of state kids usually get some sort of scholarship or other aid. The Chinese pay full sticker price. They are a cash cow, and a lot of the state universities deny admission to the in-state kids so they can fatten up on the Asian students.

They had better downsize. I don't see PC-infested colleges any better than sanctuary cities. Yeah, at first they want to raise tuition for local kids, but how long would it last? Their attendance will drop like a rock. More people could sign up for junior colleges. Of course, private colleges and universities with fat endowment will carry on, but there are not many of them.

They are so many means on various levels. It is not the lack of means, but the lack of will which has been the problem. Kissinger-Bush41-Clinton fetish with China should go.
