The Washington Free Beacon ^ | July 20, 2017 | Elizabeth Harrington

[snip] The inspector general for the agency found that individuals with more than one Social Security Number received $171 million, according to a new audit. In many cases, the payments were issued to SSNs held by deceased individuals.

"We identified more than 5,000 instances where, contrary to Agency policy, SSA appeared to simultaneously issue monthly [Old-Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance] OASDI benefits and/or SSI payments to individuals under both of their cross-referred SSNs," the inspector general said.

The next logical step is to match this data with the voter rolls and residency databases.

And to the bank accounts to which the funds were deposited. Then the account holders need to be charged with theft and fraud.

Gov’t pensions are next. They promised 8% return in California and have the taxpayers paying for them when the state runs out of money. Some cities in California have already declared bankruptcy to avoid paying.

Central States pension fund out of money.

Sorry...the next step is to match the data with employees who signed off on this...and fire them

Then...send out arrest warrants for those receiving the deceased money

Finally...match this data with the voter rolls and residency databases

Especially for the administrators.

The absolute waste and corruption is mind boggling.

True, BUT ‘they’ will say 5000 isn’t ‘many’ out of 300 million and 171 mill is ‘walking around money’ so why complain.

Who was the wag a few years ago that said

‘A billion here, a billion there and pretty soon you will be talking real money’.

Remember the old lessons in ‘school’ where the ‘teach’ would start off with

Johnnys dad makes 10 million a year and spends xxxxx for rent, xxxx on car payment. etc etc.
Most of the students were ‘lost’ when you mentioned 10 mill.
Now start with Johnny gets 5 bucks a week allowance, his Dad makes 200 etc etc etc...

That is #’s in realistic range...”

I could drive along the main thoroughfares and easily find hole-in-the-wall offices boldly advertising immigration documents.

Gee, where would a reasonable investigator go look for a problem.      /sarc

From Wikiquote:

Misattributed

“A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon, you’re talking real money.”

Although often quoted, it seems Dirksen never actually said this. The Dirksen Congressional Research Center made an extensive search when fully 25% of enquiries to them were about the quotation. They could find Dirksen did say “a billion here, a billion there”, and things close to that, but not the “pretty soon you’re talking real money” part. They had one gentleman report to them he had asked Dirksen about it on an airflight and received the reply: “Oh, I never said that. A newspaper fella misquoted me once, and I thought it sounded so good that I never bothered to deny it.”

Why does a SS number not die with the individual to whom it was issued? That would make verification easy; just search the number and if it does not exist arrest the claimant.

Pretty much any place that handles remittances.

Privatize the IRS database.

Let’s see what Amazon, UPS, FEDEX, etc. would find if their database was used to effectively manage government operations and uproot obvious fraud.     /mega-sarc

If the government paid a bounty to ID and gather the info, these bloodsuckers could be corralled.

It would make the local news interesting again.

Ok...I wasn’t sure who ‘said’ it...

Just the point being that people in that ‘status’ and allowed to handle OUR money, have that mindset.

If you hired a bookkeeper for your personal funds they would be your EX bookkeeper in a short period.

How about when a town says (right before the Mayor’s election) we have a surplus of say 20 bucks, Mayor gets reelected and first act is your taxes get raised to ‘erase’ the 200 buck shortfall.

All ‘we’ do is collectively gripe about the tax increase, not ‘demand’ to find our where the 220 dollar loss came from in 2 short weeks and why isn’t the accountants head ‘on a stick’ for the supposed ‘error’.

If your bookkeeper/accountant walks into your office and tells you that the new dump truck you wanted is ‘possible’ because you now have the funds available.
Two weeks after laying out money for the truck he comes back and says ‘OOPPS, we were 50grand in the hole, not plus’, if you can’t find something criminal to charge him with, at the least he is fired.

"And to the bank accounts to which the funds were deposited. Then the account holders need to be charged with theft and fraud."

And probably voter fraud. I suspect most of these people originally got the SS number of dead people so they can vote multiple times, then realized they could get paid for voting.
