Schumer Unveils Dems' 'Better Deal': 'Old-Fashioned Capitalism Has Broken Down'
PJ Media ^ | 7/24/17 | BRIDGET JOHNSON

Posted on 07/25/2017 4:53:53 PM PDT by Libloather

Declaring "old-fashioned capitalism has broken down to the detriment of consumers" and "Adam Smith has lost his way amidst these big corporations," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other congressional Democrats traveled to a red pocket of purple Virginia today to spell out their new agenda.

**SNIP**

After losing in 2014 and 2016, Schumer argued, Dems need to not "flinch" or "blink," but look in the mirror.

"Democrats have too often hesitated from directly and unflinchingly taking on the misguided policies that got us here - so much so that too many Americans don't know what we stand for," he said. "Not after today. President Trump campaigned on a populist platform, talking to working people, that's why he won. But as soon as he got into office, he abandoned them, making alliance with the powerful, special interest, Koch-brother-dominated, hard-right wing of the Republican Party, which appeals to the very wealthy, not the working people - leaving a vacuum on economic issues. We Democrats are going to fill that vacuum."

Broken down? If so, Chuckles should be walking between DC and NY.

Old-fashioned? As in, prior to 1913?

If so, the left is at fault: The state is inherently socialist, because it monopolizes and nationalizes the means of production of justice and security. By claiming the authority to tax--and by actually doing so--it proves that the state is the actual owner of the property being taxed, and of the labor of those taxed, and of the "means of production" used to earn the income that's taxed.  Only ownership would confer any right to exact rent or dividends.

Yes, Senator Schumer, liberty is so yesterday. Let’s try the new and improved tyranny.

There is a difference between global American capitalism and capitalism. The global corporate capitalists have done everything in their power to erase borders and it has destroyed the American lower middle class.

Global Capitalism works for the tiny few at the expense of the majority. It is giving American capitalism a bad name.

They were successful selling the ‘better deal’ to the coal miners, who listened to their union bosses and went for Obama, even though he told them he was going to put them out work.. Rats are always looking for a pied piper to lead them off a cliff.

I’m willing to bet Schumer has never read Adam Smith. I’d go so far to say Schumer cannot name the book Smith wrote and when

Schumer is singing “I’m coming out” — out the Bolshevik closet, that is.

‘Old-Fashioned Capitalism Has Broken Down’

This old trope of theirs has been around at least fifty years.

Trouble for them is, nobody believes it anymore.

Burn in hell Schumer.

Free markets produce, in short order, a vast and previously unimaginable standard of living for the poor. Then scum like Schumer throttle it half to death with big government / socialism. When the economy begins to suffer chronic issues, as predicted by all conservatives, they proclaim that capitalism is dead and we need more socialism.

I just don’t have any patience with them any longer.

Of course, there are adequate laws to prevent monopolies if that's what he's referring to. And there are anti-racketeering laws as well.

But what I suspect is that this is just the same old poverty pimping and class envy politics being played out by democrats trying to use a different messaging system.

Yeah, Chuckie-baby. Amazing how $9 Trillion un-real dollars piled upon $8 Trillion in unreal dollars will collapse things.

Whodathunk?
