Trump endorses new immigration bill to cut green-card limits, favor English speakers
The Washington Times ^ | August 2, 2017 | Dave Boyer

President Trump threw his support Wednesday behind a Senate bill that would cut legal immigration in half and implement a new merit-based system that emphasis English-speaking immigrants who can demonstrate job skills.

Meeting at the White House with GOP Sens. David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas, the bill’s sponsors, the president said the revised legislation “would represent the most significant reform to our immigration system in half a century.”

The measure, known as the RAISE Act, “will reduce poverty, increase wages and save taxpayers billions and billions of dollars,” Mr. Trump said.

The legislation would slash legal immigration in half, to 500,000 per year, over the next decade. The senators said it would replace the current permanent employment-visa framework with a skills-based system that rewards applicants based on their individual merits.

Mr. Cotton said the current immigration system is “an obsolete disaster” in which only 1 immigrant in 15 comes to the U.S. because of their job skills.

“I think it’s a symbol that were’ not committed to working-class Americans,” Mr. Cotton said of the current system.

This legislation is badly needed (and has almost no chance of passing a Democrat-RINO Senate).

Brilliant plan. Shame it has zero chance of passing in the our uniparty open-borders, globalist Congress....

Burning down their phones and putting the fear of voter wrath in them will make even Mad Jonny think twice

This is also fair to the immigrant, because if you are really THAT skilled you will get your Green Card and not become an indentured servant on H1B for up to ten years.

Most of our “representatives” have been carrying out a bipartisan plan to flood the country with foreigners to dilute the sovereignty of the citizens to steal our country from us.

We MUST remove the traitors from Congress.

We MUST remove the illegal aliens and reduce legal immigration.

Will never pass senate - RINOs, DemonRats, and even the so called “conservatives” of the Midwest agriculture states will block its passage ... They ALL want the ignorant, non-English-speaking slave labor to “do the work Americans won’t do.” Why have to pay real wages, or provide benefits to Americans and assimilated, intelligent English-speaking legal immigrants, when you can import expendable idiots whom you can abuse an extort at a whim?

a Senate bill that would cut legal immigration in half

*******************

Hope this begins to get some play in both the media and other places.
Legal immigration is becoming a larger source of illegals than those
crossing the southern border illegally.

They come in on a legal VISA but don't leave when the VISA has expired.
A lot of these are coming from the Far East, Asia, etc.

VISA Over Stays are becoming larger than illegals crossing the southern border.

The Amnesty Senators HAVE to go.

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake in 2018

Graham and Alexander in 2020

Murkowsky, Hoeven and Rubio in 2022

God is taking care of McCain

Logical point.

Which is why Schumer and the complicit RINOs will deny it ‘till the cows come home.

We’re still gonna win this one. It will become the American wedge issue of all issues: NO ONE believes their BS anymore about how mass third world sub-literate immigration “benefits us all”.

On January 20th this year I had a 6 months reserve supply of scahrenfreude saved up

It went in the first 100 days

Now...we not a week into the second half of the first year (of 8) Trump presidencies

and I am scraping the bottom of the Schardenfreude jar already.

I was under the impression that some visa holders, if they wish to prolong their stay, had to show special talents or special contribution to be allowed to stay. Am I wrong? If not, why is this a radical change?

> favor English speakers
That won’t go over well with republicans. They want more voters who don’t understand sentences like “I promise to repeal Obamacare”. Life would be so much easier right now if they could claim this “misunderstanding” is because most voters don’t know English.
