Sessions, Coats To Address Intelligence Leaks Friday
The Hill ^ | 08/04/17 | John Bowden

Posted on 08/04/2017 5:53:04 AM PDT by Enlightened1

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats will hold speak on Friday morning about the Trump administration's ongoing efforts to combat intelligence leaks, according to a Justice Department statement.

Sessions and Coats will deliver remarks at 11 a.m. on "leaks of classified material threatening national security," according to the statement.

Following those remarks, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and National Counterintelligence and Security Center Director William Evanina will talk to reporters in an "off-camera pen and pad discussion."

Last week, Sessions told Fox News's Tucker Carlson that consequences for intelligence leakers needed to be stronger, arguing that what's been done in the past to combat leaks hasn't been effective.

"I have not been happy with the past prosecutions and investigations of criminal leaks," Sessions said last week, noting that the U.S. has "already taken a number of steps."

"We already have multiples, numbers of prosecutions compared to last year at this time," he said, adding that the Justice Department would be "stepping up" prosecution of intelligence leak cases.

"We’re stepping up those cases. It cannot continue," Sessions said. "People need to go to jail."

Intelligence leaks have already had consequences for the United States.

In May, police in Manchester, England, announced they were no longer sharing intelligence related to the bombing of an Ariana Grande concert with the United States after a string of leaks to the American media about the attack.

Unless some high profile arrests, convictions, and imprisonments are made, this is nothing but a big show that will fizzle in the end. Especially so if Sessions is leading it....

"Leaked" transcripts? That's a frickin' joke. There are no leakers in the Trump WH. The vengeful Obama bugged everything in the WH to get damaging stuff on Trump.

Pres Trump (and the Congress) should find out the whereabouts of the old govt-issue computers Obama removed from the White House before he left. The old computers are official US Government property laden w/ rules, regs, and laws.

<><> the old govt-issue White House computers may have been relocated to Obama’s OFA operations center in his DC rental house....just a couple miles from the WH.

<><>the govt-issue computers would show what Obama knew, and when he knew it, as well as any email he had with the buck-raking Clintons, and the Paki spies.

<><> the computers could expose Obama’s disloyalty to Americans....... and to his party.

<><> the missing computers are the only known electronic links to Obama’s clandestine operations and could be used as evidence of impropriety.

Mr. Sessions has allowed the assault on President Trump via his recusal from the “Russia investigation”.

Presidenr Trump has clearly stated his displeasure.

The Republican insiders and the “conservatives” who sucker people into voting Republicans, the Republicans who hate Donald Trump, have been among the defenders of Jeff Sessions.

Sessions should be gone.......

First of all, I checked your information page. There's nothing about you on it. Why not?

Secondly, you're already criticizing AG Sessions this AM. He's having a news conference at 11AM. It's reprehensible that you have to get your insults in before that.

Haven't you gotten the memo? AG Sessions is a line in the sand for a lot of Deplorables. For reasons enumerated every day, he needs to stay where he is.

The police are changing their Miranda Rights cards.

They’ll now be asking if you’re a Democrat.

If you say yes, they have to let you go.

This has been going back and forth in my mind. I liked him.
But what you are saying here makes sense as the repukes behave like RATS more and more bush family is a good example

Seems like virtues are so easily lost...(my husband would be laughing at me on that comment but I’m tired of it!)

We must support Our President Trump I cannot say it often enough.

Sounds like a 2nd hand press release not a critique. But the recusal and appointment of unnecessary special counsel to placate democrats was a colossal blunder.

Have you notice no leaks from the AG offices. I think Sessions has things under control.

Yeah. I don't bring it up, fingers crossed it continues. My contention all along has been that AG Sessions did the correct thing, recusing himself. He's no dummy, the "aw shucks" first impression isn't the person he's proved to be throughout his career. He's the one who was in the US Senate, so knew that it's worse than a swamp....it's a sewer. If he hadn't recused himself, the sewer rats would've kept him busy 24/7 with the bogus "Russia, Russia, Russia" stuff.

What I'd like to know is who advised President Trump to criticize AG Sessions. One can't help but wonder they know how much it antagonizes a large part of the base.

That's my take, anyway. I look forward to what AG Sessions has to say today.

You want to know about me? Well I am in 300 club. I noticed you are not. Other than that why do you even care?

At any rate, I am just making an observation. No offense , but whenever a four day buildup to the press conference is required.... It will most likely turn out to be a double nothing-burger. Just like everything else with Sessions.

Why do we keep hearing about Congress calling for investigations when the the DOJ and corrupt FBI (McCabe) are silently just playing the observer role? A junior YouTube investigator can solve the Seth Rich case, but the best agency in the world cannot (oh, that’s because they are accomplices). The corruption is sickening and hopefully changes when the new director takes over.

What is Sessions reason for doing practically nothing for so long? There could possibly be a little more peace in the White House today, had Sessions been more aggressive with the top Traitors and leakers.

I’m sorry but Sessions has been stalling way too long on this, and his priorities are out of wack. We have people death threatening the President and he does nothing.... It makes me sick to my stomach.
