I have never understood why Drudge gets so much notoriety. He does zero except to link to other stories & coverage from other sources. So what? He is the Cliffs Notes of journalism with no original content.

Drudge led me to Free Republic in 1998. Before Lewinsky-gate really caught on, I think it was Drudge who first started to stir the pot on that story. I heard about Drudge and Lewinsky when I heard Rush say that he always read the Drudge Report. Among the many links at Drudge was one for "Whitewater". This was a link to Free Republic which used to have a "Whitewater" forum to discuss the high crimes and misdemeanors of the Clintons. I have scarcely looked at Drudge's site since then.

Same here.

Drudge is still steering the news cycle.

And he’s advising Trump - or at least advising the Trump team.

Unlike some here, I do not think he is souring on Trump.

Back b4 the days of Internet, about the only stuff that smacked at all of truth/non-pc was advertised in the classifides in back of the old SpotLight Newspapers; then I found an old geezer name of Stillwell (the 70s) in San Diego who held classes @ a public park, and he reproduced OP old mimeographed underground articles and sold them in the parking lot outta the trunk of his car.

He later ran up all his credit cards and got a spot on public TV, called it Let’s Educate!

Apparently many have forgotten who Drudge was and what he did.

He did for internet news what Rush Limbaugh did for radio. He singlehandedly blew open the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, and for the first time for many of us gave us a way to find stories that weren’t slanted. By taking the conservative items out of stories where the headlines often buried the good news for conservatives or bad news for libs, he liberated a lot of Americans.

Recently he has drifted leftward due to his running battle with Breitbart, but Drudge was a hero in the 1990s to those of us wanting real news without the slant.
