... over the negative association with lynching - even though the schools were named after a family (full title)
An Oregon school board voted on Wednesday to remove the name 'Lynch' from three elementary schools in Portland. Lynch Meadows Elementary, Lynch Woods Elementary and Lynch View Elementary were all named after a local family who donated land to the school district in the late 1800s. In recent years, school officials say they have received complaints from people who are concerned about the name's connotation with lynching.

One, this is more evidence that liberals can complain about literally anything at all, and still get their way. So what's next? Maybe white bathrobes will be banned from Walmart stores because they might remind someone of Klan attire.
And two (this is really important): Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch probably hopes that someday an Oregon school will be named after her. That dream is now dead.
It’ll cost the taxpayers a pretty penny to change the street signs, the building lettering, the school letterhead and all the school spirit paraphernalia.
Hope the Lynch family had the foresight to include a deed reservation for reversion, if the name is changed. /sarc
White sheets definitely need to be banned.
And by the way, why is “people of color” cool but “colored people” isn’t?
"In case youve ever wondered why the culture of political correctness is always capable of reaching new levels of madness, now you know.
Once you permit one absurdity, every absurdity is on the table.

Go to Starbucks and place an order:
Tell them your name is LYNCH.
So, does the (tr) stand for truncated or “TRIGGER”. LOL! Pretty soon you’ll not be able to say KNOT or ROPE. We know where that leads.
Another choice is “linchar.”
Hurray
No “ Loretta Lynch Elementary” schools

Excellent comment! But I’d make a slight correction: Once you permit one PC absurdity, every PC absurdity is on the table.
Because, as we all know, only PC absurdities are allowed.
Proud to say I’ve never placed an order at Starbucks.
Stupid! Now remove the words spook and niggardly, they’re racist; kraut, also racist; confederate, also racist; hood (racist); boy (demeaning and racist): alien (after all, people are not from Mars); the list of PC lunacy continues. In Libland, English words can not have more than one meaning. Libs/progressivesibs demaean and dilute the great and powerful English language.

This will not stop until someone with gonads says, “No, we will not diminish the accomplishments of honored peoples for the sake of political correctness.”
I think that everyone on FR sees what the end goal of this suicidal behavior is.
I realize that Portland is inflicted with an extra dose of PC stupidity because it is Portland, but maybe we could pay off some Chinese debt by letting them set up a special administrative region there, sort of like Hong Kong. Make it a 50 year lease and restrict the PLA occupation contingent there to only what is necessary to keep local order. See how the locals like those apples.
LorettaLynchNo-Name
I get the sense that somewhere there is a Fascist-Liberal-whack-job combing through records looking for any schools with ‘White’ in their names. The next obvious target.
“”Maybe white bathrobes will be banned from Walmart stores because they might remind someone of Klan attire.””
Not only that but they could conduct raids into homes where it’s suspected that someone might OWN one of those bathrobes or EVEN WORSE - white sheets!
How is it that a UK paper knows about this, but we don’t hear it from one of our own papers?
