Now we have Trump, Tillerson, Mattis and McMaster playing various levels of good cop/bad cop. They are even reportedly working the backchannels in the old diplomatic game. Let's hope they learn from the past and do it better this time. Color me skeptical because without a serious military threat, I doubt the Chinese will listen. The article is correct that this is all about the Chinese, but President Trump doesn't need a military threat for the Chinese. It will be economic, and the president is more than willing to find an excuse to start trade renegotiation with China.

I am glad he is finally on board. It’s takes time but it is very hard to tell someone they have been wrong their entire life.
