I suspected that may be the case since I see so many of them these days. My 4-runner is a 2005 model with 155,000 miles and hanging on.

Window tinting is a big business in this area but they can't tint darker than what is legal. After having this truck with tint, I wouldn't go back to no tint. It keeps the interior much cooler and sort of protects the seats, etc. A lot of the criminal element abuses the tint but they will always abuse anything. Here is my truck with the factory tint. It's darker in the back seat area than it is in the driver area but by law it has to be light enough for law enforcement to see the driver. Some people go beyond that.

I wouldn't want it darker than this in the front because I have enough trouble seeing at night without dark tint but I wouldn't want to be without it either..
