Gotta say, that doesn’t strike me as purely “Dutch”. Maybe, but looks funkier. Maybe South African isn’t that far off.

How many "purely" ( which is a ridiculous thing to say!) "DUTCH" last names are you aware of?
The ONLY last names, in the RSA, that are "funky" ( what are you saying, why use that silly word at all ? ), are the Dutch spelled FRENCH last names, of the Huguenots, who fled to Holland, to escape being murdered by the crazed anti-Protestant King Louis XIV, who ordered that they be slaughtered.
Actually, there is NO SUCH A THING as a "SOUTH AFRICAN" last name.
There isn't an "AMERICAN LAST NAME" either!
