“I’m not intimidated by Robert E. Lee’s statue. I’m not intimidated by it. It doesn’t scare me,” said Crenshaw. “We don’t want America to think that all African Americans are supportive of this.”
Crenshaw, along with some Buffalo Solider historians and Sons of Confederate Veterans are coming together to help protect the Confederate markers from toppling over in Dallas.

You don’t learn from history by trying to destroy it by destroying symbols from it.
Destroying historical symbols is like the Taliban destroying Buddhist statues because the don’t represent the dominate religion in Afghanistan today. That is what the Mullahs in Iran do with Persian “pagan” symbols and shrines as well as Muslim shrines that are not Shia Muslim. Saudi Arabia does the same thing with anything representing NOT their dominate Wahabi Sunni Muslim faith. Destroyers of history are not trying to “undo” it (the Confederacy and slavery are gone and not coming back). They are on agendas to rewrite history on their terms, and close any open discussion of anything from that history. They are no different than the burners of books.
I’ve read that the vast majority of the men who fought for the Confederacy did not own a single slave and could not have afforded a slave if he wanted one. Of course the History Channel disputes this, but this is the same channel that shows the guy with the wild hair-do yipping about UFO’s landing at various Inca and Aztec sites.
Kudos to these people. Glad to see some sanity.

There are many more “Black” Americans that are no longer captive on the Marxist/Progressive/Liberal intellectual plantation. As many of them that can need to speak up.
If you don’t like a symbol, use it’s existence to teach any history that surrounds it, but be sure you are totally honest and don’t deny anything, don’t tear down any statement, sentiment, action by anyone that was good, just to get at any mistakes they made.
Also don’t deny the context within any history, which means don’t deny that human societies today, for the most part, all have different attitudes about many things that people did in earlier eras. And even now, in this era, people are MORE a product of what they see as their context and experience than they are of any grand and noble ideas.
They want to erase General Lee, even though if there was a top southerner more against the shameful system of slavery, and more against secession than anyone else, it was Lee. He did not wish or want secession and the Confederacy. In the end what did he think he had to stay loyal to? Virginia, his home and the colonial home of his parents and grandparents. Lee was a Virginian, and in spite of his views Virginia voted to join the Confederacy. Altogether maybe Lee was no saint, but he was not the embodiment of the devil either.
Abraham Lincoln of all people would not be tearing down a statue of Lee, or anyone like him.
But the Left is not looking for noble examples. There’s is an agenda of hate and division.
