Two days after President Trump questioned whether tearing down Confederate statues would lead leftists to targeting statues and monuments to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and other Founding Fathers, CNN commentator Angela Rye did exactly that.
“We have to get to the heart of the problem here and the heart is the way many of us were taught American history. American history is not all glorious,” Rye said in a heated segment on Thursday.
“George Washington was a slave owner. We need to call them out for what they are, whether we think they were protecting American freedom or not. He wasn’t protecting my freedoms. My ancestors weren’t deemed human beings to him. And so to me, I don’t care if it’s a George Washington statue or a Thomas Jefferson statue, they all need to come down,” she added.
Rye’s comments, which were first pointed out by the Washington Free Beacon on Thursday, come amidst heated national debate on whether to tear down Confederate monuments and statues around the country.
President Trump weighed in on the debate on Thursday.
“Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments,” Trump tweeted. “You can’t change history, but you can learn from it. Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson – who’s next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish!”
Some Black Supremacists may well be stupid; race-bigotry is stupid in general. But ALL Black Supremacists, including Black Supremacist Angela Rye are evil and destructive.
CNN needs to come down, get ‘em off the air now. They offend me, that should be all that is required.
Confederate Memorial controversy[edit]
After the Charleston church shooting in the summer of 2015, Stone Mountain was the subject of a political debate related to the removal of symbols of the Confederacy.[17] This controversy was stimulated by a movement in other states to remove the Confederate battle flag from public areas.
A proposal was made to remove the Confederate carving from Stone Mountain Park.[18] However, according to Georgia state law, no one is allowed to alter the figures carved upon the stone face. Any changes within the state park would require approval by the state legislature.[19]
On October 11, 2015, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the park is considering a proposal of a permanent “Freedom Bell” honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. and the line “Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia” as part of King’s “I Have A Dream” speech of 1963.[20] The proposed monument is inspired by a bell-ringing ceremony held in 2013 honoring the 50th anniversary of King’s speech.
Next, after they tear down all Washington and Jefferson statues, some state names will need changing for sure! Lets see, Washington State will need a name do over. How about Far Left State of Stupid? All counties named Washington and Jefferson will have to go also!
