Liberty until I am taxed to pay for those folk's self inflicted health care needs. There is the quandary.
I appreciate your point. I drink soda pop maybe twice a year (root beer floats at family reunions). I look at the resulting obesity and diabetes from an over-consumption of soft drinks and the attendant healthcare costs that I have to share, and it doesn’t seem fair. That’s where healthcare savings accounts (HSAs) would reward us for our better behavior. Make people pay for their stupid choices, and reward others for wise choices, and maybe some people might eventually start to make better choices (like not drinking too many sugary soft drinks).
“Liberty until I am taxed to pay for those folk’s self inflicted health care needs. There is the quandary.”
Until they neuter all welfare and food stamp recipients I’m afraid this argument will never work on me.
