Salvation Army, Red Cross, Susan G. Komen abandon Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and Susan G. Komen on Friday joined a growing exodus of organizations canceling plans to hold fundraising events at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, deepening the financial impact to President Trump’s private business amid furor over his comments on Charlottesville.

The major exits now mean eight of the club’s biggest event customers have abandoned it this week, likely costing the Trump business hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue or more.

Let me get this straight...

So a club that Trump opened in part because he was disgusted at the bigoted clubs in NY that wouldn’t allow Jews or blacks and he opened it to all, now is not good enough for these groups because they consider Trump a bigot?

The SA’s reply to my e-mail:
Dear Ms. Roberts,

Thank you for reaching out to us to share your concerns regarding our connections with the Mar-a-Lago Club.

The Salvation Army relies heavily on fundraising events like The Holiday Snow Ball in Palm Beach to further our mission of helping those in need through a range of social services including food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for the underprivileged. Because the conversation has shifted away from the purpose of this event, we will not host it at Mar-a-Lago.

Thank you and God bless,

You may want to ask the mods to take your name off.

Thanks for sharing though.

The Red Cross is a scam anyway.

When we had a major forest fire, there were volunteers providing coffee and other things to people fighting the fires. The Red Cross came in with their fancy trailer and charged for their coffee.

Just who does the Red Cross help? I have participated in more than one event in need and it was always someone other than the Red Cross that helped. Their presence was always for profit.

I’d say it would depend on how much money was going for overhead. If not a lot, then I don’t have a problem with ritzy fundraisers. What can I say, the rich are different.

Samaritan’s Purse does fine work. I hope folks who aren’t familiar will take a look there.

A good start, other than telling ‘us’ what you are thinking, is telling the organizations themselves.

Another ‘goodie’ would be to go the the stores in your area that ‘allow’ the SA to put up their kettles that if you see a SA kettle in front of their store, they will NOT see you.

Also, SA has thrift stores which I am sure if enough people dropped by and politely vented and give the reason you will no longer darken their door, word may get back to HQ.

The American Red Cross is a money making scam. If you don’t believe me do the research.

Do you know anything about televangelist James Robison’s project to put clean water wells into African villages? Is that legit?

Here's mine:

I thought you were above politics.

Good luck raising funds from those you appeased."

Give to a reliable charity in your own town, where you can actually see the results of your generosity. For me, that is American Rescue Workers in Williamsport, PA.

Isn't it sad? Prolife activists caught CC giving funds to abortion rights groups...and that was thirty years ago! I can just imagine what they are up up these days, with Pope Frankie in charge.😜

This must be published widely so Conservatives can plan ahead where to send their big checks this holiday season. You can bet I will be spreading the news at my Country Club.

Not happenin’. Tonight was homemade baked beans with turkey bacon, and a salad of mixed greens, red onion, cut grapes, and dried cranberries. Homemade leftover strawberry cupcakes for dessert.

I like the sound of the chocolate pie. Too bad it’s Hershey’s, that chocolate tastes worse every year. They are skimping on something over at Hershey’s.

Just found this on bizbash.com (doing some hunting for info on another thread). Some of the charities were ENCOURAGED to leave by the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce!

, a prominent business leader on Palm Beach urged other charitable organizations sticking with Mar-a-Lago to reconsider their commitment to the president’s club. Laurel Baker, executive director of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, told those groups and their deep-pocket donors to 'have a conscience' and seek another venue for their events.
