A second thought: maybe some corporate donors threatened to shut them off if they didn't pull out of the Mar a Lago event. On the other hand, I wouldn't think that the salvation Army would be a particularly sexy charity for leftist corporations to support in the first place.
A third thought: why is the Salvation Army even having events at a ritzy locale like Mar a Lago in the first place? Seems kind of extravagant for a charity devoted to the poor.

I’d say it would depend on how much money was going for overhead. If not a lot, then I don’t have a problem with ritzy fundraisers. What can I say, the rich are different.
Samaritan’s Purse does fine work. I hope folks who aren’t familiar will take a look there.
