Conspiracies are ridiculous when we only must understand reports all along have been true.
Our military was halted. Training and function was decimated.
There is a price to pay for that, regardless of high tech and extraordinary equipment.
The best way not to run into another ship is you don't continue on a collision course. It's pretty easy. It takes some training because instead of a pedal, brakes and steering wheel, you have to learn to use your words: all stop, or ahead flank, or left 20 degrees rudder, steady course 180. And because ships are slow to respond, you have to think ahead. But anyone who can drive a car has the requisite skills to avoid going around hitting things.
