How about an emphasis on competence?
That's a novel concept.
OOooohhh Reggie!!Can you meet me on the poop deck.
People laugh at me when I disparage all this damned useless sensitivity training, sexual harassment training,
“How ‘bout training on how to steer a ship...”
That would definitely be a good start...How ‘bout NO training on butt darts, pole smoking, and dressing up like a woman...how ‘bout that — Not sure how those things factor in to making the military I loved and served for 20 years a more fierce and feared fighting force.
“Enlisted ranks will take local classes made up of lectures, group discussions and coaching.” That’s all PC BS. In the “old” Navy a lecture was an ass chewing. There was no touchy feely discussion. Coaching was an ass kicking someplace where the noise level and closed doors kept the “training” private.
If I was CNO whoever came up with that BS would be reassigned to someplace with a view like Adak, Alaska or Guam depending on where the officer grew up. It would not match the climate they were used to.
In the 70s and 80s I was involved in the US Navy’s Leadership and Management Effectiveness Training programs. If the current emphasis detracts from training in technical and combat leadership areas then it will be very counter-productive. Nobody, least of all me, is opposed to an emphasis on ethical leadership but, if emphasis is needed, it should not be at the expense of combat training and readiness.
My son is active USN and I want effective and ethical leaders ordering him into harm’s way.
What you really need is some good boat drivers!
Funny how more leadership leads to less leadership.
How about qualification, competence, character, effectiveness first?
As far as what the CNO said, I don’t know what the hell he said or meant. Sounded an awful lot like more PC crap that killed 10 seamen who are crushed to death in their racks.
I hope anyone responsible for this disgrace wakes from horror filled night mares for the rest of their miserable lives and is haunted by the image of 10 sailors bodies crushed and drowned.
This is just incompetence. They rely too much on what the computers tell them and too little on going out to see what is.
This just demonstrates the need for greater diversity. After all, diversity is our strength. If there’s a problem, then that’s the solution. The Navy needs more trannies.
results of the pussification and enforcement of LBGT rights forced on our military by the traitor in chief and his minions...including McMaster
LOL, good point.
Too busy worried about which bathroom to use. People who can’t decide if they are men or women shouldn’t drive ships.
“The Navys top officer says the services new emphasis on character in its leaders is meant as a wake up call for the service to be more competitive.”
Very bad timing for Richardson to have this story appear.
He needs to determine if he can stop these boats from crashing.
If he can’t, he needs to turn the job over to someone who can. And I don’t mean sometime next week.
It is really difficult to get the first wisecrack onto this site.
The Navy should focus more on the bow and less on the poop deck.
I knew we were in trouble when the memorandum came down saying that it wasn’t fair to evaluate Soldiers by their performance in combat.
