DHS asks State Department to suspend visas for countries who won't accept US-deported citizens

The Trump administration is considering suspending the visas of some citizens in countries who have "refused to accept or unreasonably delayed the return of its nationals," according to multiple reports Wednesday evening.

Cambodia, Eritrea, Guinea, and Sierra Leone have refused to take back people in the U.S. who are in the country illegally and been cleared by immigration courts for removal, according to the Washington Times.

DHS requested in a letter to the State Department that it suspend visas to some citizens from the four countries, though it's not known who would be affected.

"When we receive such notification, the Department of State works to implement a visa suspension as expeditiously as possible in the manner the secretary determines most appropriate under the circumstances to achieve the desired goal," a State official told Fox News.

While a presidential candidate, Trump promised to take more action to get countries to take back people the U.S. sought to deport. Eight of the 20 countries that had fought the change are now working with the U.S. government to take back their citizens.

"The secretary [of State] is having conversations with those countries. We want to bring those countries into compliance. We want those countries to be able to take back their citizens," the State official said. "We are having different levels of conversations with those countries and imposing different things upon them based on what we think will work best with those countries."

Nice measure, I’m happy.

But seriously, why does the State Dept. need to be ASKED..?

It should be ordered and Trump should get INSTANT compliance.

It shouldn’t even take 60 seconds.

I think this asking process is reinforcing The Bureacracy’s visceral feeling that THEY are in charge, that people Merely Elected are....window-dressing, or something.

COMPLIANCE SHOULD BE INSTANT.

They are EMPLOYEES.

The wealthy and connected elites are the ones with US visas from those dirt poor countries. No chance they will risk losing them.

Force these countries to pay for the housing, food, medical, and other expenses of these illegals...
Not only do we refuse the entrance of these people but their country has got to pay the bills..

This kind of blows a hole in the leftist argument that all of those illegal aliens are benefiting the US with all of their awesome skills. If they are such great assets, why don’t their own countries want them back?

I think it is the other way — those in power over those countries, they are all elites, not dirt poor — all have either Swiss or Caribbean bank accounts in millions, if not billions.

Those deported are criminals, so they do not want criminals back into their countries. These deported criminals are likely a threat to those elites.

The State Dept is full of snakes going way, way back. I call it treason, the undermining of our national interest.

The countries named represent a towering assemblage of knowledge and talent; we will certainly come to regret this stunning loss, pffft.

The wealthy and connected elites are the ones with US visas from those dirt poor countries. No chance they will risk losing them.

Start with their UN delegation.

These are frequently the relatives of well connected politicians in their home country.

They are on the delegation so they can live in the US and receive a very nice living stipend from the coffers of the UN.

If they get sent home they lose that money and have to go back to their third world hell hole.

Even suggest that and these relatives will be on the phone home to their well-connected relatives screaming at them to take back these undesirables today.
