Don’t worry, Timmy, the Democratic Party is known for other things. Here are a few:

1) Unrestricted immigration, never-you-mind the law;
2) Bash any religion (except Islam, of course);
3) Bash all whites;
4) Restrict all energy production; and
5) Gun control as the solution to every problem related to violence.
6) Political Correctness as the solution for every grievance, including the outright erasure of history.

Ryan comes from the eastern edge of Ohio, around Youngstown and Warren, the buckle of the rust belt as they used to say. But that area, a long time democrat sanctuary, went for Trump last year. If the GOP comes up with a good candidate, and the economy continues to grow, Ryan will have a hard time selling the idea of change, especially since the democrats' claim to be the working class heroes has been discredited by history.
