Well, it really has been used in a denigrating manner in the past. The idea is that blacks are monkeys and monkeys love bananas. A few years ago, some black hockey players were going to a tournament in Canada and their bus was pelted with bananas. How that could happen in smug, tolerant, "We're better than you!" Canada, I don't know. /s They have had similar incidents in tolerant, leftist, better-than-the-South Boston.
This isn't that. This is a kid throwing away a banana. But, that is to answer your question.
