My Old School.......remains an all time favorite of mine.
Even Chino and Daddy G are saddened......
No longer reelin’ in the years...
That sums it up...
"Hey Nineteen" was released in November, 1980. Almost 37 years ago.
Ouch.
I’m still morning Glenn Frey.
Bass player actually but he had way more creative input to the music than the average bass player. Bass players and drummers are generally considered a dime a dozen.
Steely Dan was part of the soundtrack of my life growing up.
Scary. 67. Same age as I am.
Well, Mickey Mantle died at 62, but as he said, ( just read this ... ) “If I’d known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.”
Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Yes, I am!
I’m doing great but I can see the signs!
It’s all good.
Intelligent lyrics, outstanding musicianship, but their music never moved me.
Heartily agree about Exile.
The Mick also said, “I led the league in crabs two years in a row and was second the next. My wife led the league that year.”
Same here. Long time fan, have all their recordings. Big ripple effect from this band to other bands/artists.
They didn’t hardly tour in the early days when I followed them....a little in 72/73 then quit
That sucks. And too young.
>> the Steely Dan concept
Indeed, great concepts for a time where engineering evolved to support the pristine mastering the band exploited and deserved.
This is sad, sad news. I am a big fan. Saw them two years ago. Rest in Peace, Walter.
To paraphrase The Most Interesting Man in the World: “I don’t always wrap my entire day in music, but when I do, it’s with Steely Dan.” Rest in peace Walt.
Drink scotch whiskey all night long...and die behind the wheel.
It’s far easier to wax poetic about that- much harder in practice.
