Very sad to hear this. I loved Steely Dan when I was a kid in the '70s, way too young to understand any of their lyrics, and I love them now, when I can understand maybe half their lyrics. But their music was perfection then and now, and introduced me to people as diverse as Wayne Shorter, Larry Carlton, Rick Derringer and Michael McDonald. I have every album on vinyl, and I played Katy Lied tonight to commemorate Walter's passing.
I got a chance to see them live after all these years at the Shoreline in Mountain View last year - they (and I) were a lot older than they were in their heyday, but I'm so glad I got to see Becker before it was too late. RIP.

That 19 year old is 60 years old today and almost old enough to collect Social Security.
