According to the Chief there have only been around 17 looters arrested. They got the word out that the people who have anything worth looting are armed.

Rule 2 -— Don’t draw attention to yourself.
Rule 3 -— Be practiced and prepared

The post-Katrina stories are frightening. The government simply went house-to-house collecting weapons. If no one answered, they broke down doors. Saying no wasn’t an acceptable answer, they would search in that case.
In that case, for people with more than one weapon - give them your crappiest weapon, and be sure you don’t have any ammo lying around for weapons you hang on to.
One thing with this storm here in Houston - I did hear our mayor saying that he would have the police FORCE people out of their homes in flooded areas. I suspect that he knew it was illegal, but also figured many people did not know that, so they’d comply. Still not good to hear something like that.
