Why doesn't Think Progress try to improve conditions in Mexico and further south?

If Houston's flooding was a problem of "no zoning" and "unrestricted expansion" then what is a city or nation with unrestricted borders/immigration? More flooding.

“Why doesn’t Think Progress try to improve conditions in Mexico and further south?”

This has always been the elephant in the room. We should be exporting the best elements of capitalism, especially in our own hemisphere, but instead we prop up and rub elbows with scoundrels, cheats, and socialists, while their people suffer. These are the fruits of the left.

My guess is that some of the billions of dollars drug cartels rake in want to see Mexico and points south in a static, corrupted state so that it’s easier to do business down there.

If Mexico starts to improve and becomes more like Canada, that means that laws would have to be enforced, corrupt politicians would have to be outed, and other terrible things that would raise the cost of corrupting their government to United States prices :-) .
